I just heard that too! I realized I didn't know anything about her. Quite interesting. I had forgotten how ubiquitous their black nylon bags were when I was in college - not really my own style but so simple and well-done.

I never knew about Andy, or the other partners. I hadn’t realised either how little I knew about the company. Andy was definitely a full partner, whereas I just imagined Kate alone.

I liked the design of this early bag. I had a bunch. Held the Filofax and the flip phone, lol.

Yeah, I got the idea she really needed Andy to be successful because they balanced each other out, with different strengths and personality styles.
I like that bag too, green and stripes! Ha. The flip phone! After that I had the Nokia with a zillion different face plates.

I found that interview to be super interesting. Thanks for putting up the link. I bumbled into it while driving (It was on satellite radio) and I didn't know the name of the show or how to find it again as I only heard a part of it, not the complete story.

I lost my interest in the Kate Spade line when they sold. I did and didn’t know they had sold to Neiman’s. It didn’t penetrate my brain until I listened to the interview. I’m thinking about hunting down their FV shoes now in person...

Ooh Rachy! I found a site selling vintage ones and the two favorites I had in ‘87 are not available. Grr. Still, loads of good oldies and Amazon has a lot of new ones!
