I had said on the economy thread I started that investing in a good wardrobe might make sense, if I got laid off and needed to go back to consulting for awhile.
Wellll... I didn't get laid off BUT..... I got a call on Monday about a potential job opening in a different part of the company. The job has not even posted yet, and I was the first person they thought of for it.
On paper so far - it looks like it may be my DREAM position - exactly what I've been wanting as a next career step in my company! It would take me in a completely new and exciting direction!! I have an informational interview this friday (over the phone) to learn more.
I would still be a teleworker but the catch is: I would likely need to go into the office more frequently, might have to do more travel to HQ, and I would definetly be more "visible" than I am now, because I'd be on videoconferencing quite a lot. Which means that all the clothes I've been buying and all the wardrobe upgrades will be extremely important. (On videoconference people only see you from the waist up - so dressy jeans/smart casual is the perfect formula).
I'm not getting my hopes up too high... I need to learn more as a first step. It sounds like the dream job on paper, but you never know until you learn more. But if it's not this position, I do feel like change is in my career future sometime in the next year.
Cross fingers for me and send lucky thoughts my way!
