Seattle Clothing Swap finds - YouLookFab Forum

I had a blast at the Seattle YouLookFab clothing swap yesterday-the second that I've been able to attend. This year I didn't come home with a lot, but I'm quite pleased with what I brought home: an INC. brand turquoise short sleeved argyle print sweater with faux white collar attached, a black beaded necklace with a black feathery pendant pinned on, and a white costume pearl necklace with black tulle.

Both necklaces were Angie's from Hong Kong - it's even more fun for me to take home a formerly owned piece that belonged to someone I really like. I don't know who the sweater belonged to, but it makes me think of MaryK. The colors are spot on for my "spicy and greens" color palette. The color looks fantastic with my raisin, turquoise, and magenta Halogen pencil skirts.

I'm contemplating seeing if I can turn the sweater into a short sleeved sweater vest and removing the collar as I suspect I'll get more wear that way. What do you think?

Super fun loot, Kari! I remember seeing that pearl necklace on Angie. And the argyle sweater is very prep - is the collar detachable, or would it require cutting?

Laura, it would require cutting but seems like it would be an easy alteration, as it's sewn on underneath the sweater and is hidden. May even be able to just detach the threads with a seam ripper. I'm not sure if turning it into a sleeveless garment would be a harder alteration or not - I'll check with my mom, who is my resident alterations expert.

Fun! I can't wait to see the results of your styling. It is so rewarding to have our beloved things go to a friend who will appreciate. The things I swapped last week are already being sported by a cute little girl and her mom. Fun!

the sweater is really great! I do think you would find it gets more use if it is sleeveless and cant wait to hear how the alteration might turn out... and Angie's necklaces will be fun on so many levels!

I hope that it works to alter the sweater to be a sleeveless vest. I'm imagining the possibilities - aside from the obvious layering over a white collared button-down blouse, there's my chambray shirt, or my silk long-sleeved coral blouse... Could potentially work really well.

I can't wait to break out Angie's necklaces, too. They actually look pretty sharp together since the black tulle unifies the necklaces.

Oh lord that black necklace is divine. I like the sweater and yes, I think it is a great idea to remove the collar and sleeves.

Those necklaces are perfect for you! I'd love to see that sweater become a vest. I'm after a sweater-vest myself! Uber versatile, I would think! If the armholes aren't cut too deep, you could also wear it as a top.
