K or R -- cream button up

This is a chambray/ light denim button down. The fabric is lovely, and I think it will drape more after it is washed and wears-in. I usually NEVER wear cream or white, partially because I get quite dusty at work. However, I figured that dirt might come out of the denim better than a regular cotton shirt or knit tee.

The other color I might be interested in is the tan.

What do you ladies think?

Hi! I'm new to this. Just joined. So not as experienced but... I think the button down is cute and color nice for you but the pockets detract.

Less is more in this case. Keep looking!

I like both of these options for you. I really like that they are more relaxed than a classic button up, but not as casual as a camp shirt. Have you ever tried anything to boost whitening? I use these for our towels and they work really well. http://www.drugstore.com/produ.....pid=412330
I'm sure there's a more natural option if you are more chemically conscious.

I like it too. Do you ever wear pink? The pink one is a really great color on my monitor.

I like this on you a lot. I think I considered these tops when they were on sale at NAS, or something very similar anyway. I actually like the pockets; they make it a bit less formal and draw the eye up to your face. And I think the color is nice on you.

Carter-- I actually tried the pink first. It was a pretty color, but pretty bright/garish on me compared to the photo. For ladies that wear a lot more coral or pink, it would be great but I didn't care for it on me.

Meredith-- we use oxiclean. However, my bigger concern is having permanently dirty cuffs or "chest" areas where I brush up against dirty things, lifting them, etc.

Yeah, it's a legitimate concern. I don't think I ever ventured to wear white when I catalogued artifacts, but then I've seen people wear white in the field and look pristine. Tough call.

Overall, I really like it! But I am on the fence about the pockets. I don't mind them per se, but it seems like they might be spaced a little wide. But I can't tell if that's just an optical illusion because of the folds in the shirt.

I love you in cream! Pretty pretty! But those packing folds in the shirt are distracting; hang it next to the shower & show us how it drapes once it relaxes. I think that the folds are wonking out the pockets...

I am on the fence. It sounds like a great piece, it looks great. I like the contrasting stitching and buttons on you.

I personally look washed out in anything but clear white, my hair is dark and skin bright, and I would not buy this one. But - I find this lighting difficult for the final decision - if the colour is the deciding point.

Actually this fabric is Tencel, which gives it that great drape. I loved this shirt, for casual wear, but it was too long on me , if im thinking if the right one. I like pockets, though they keep it in the casual zone.

It looks like it could be good for you, but the folds and wrinkles distract me as well and it looks a bit short for it's boxiness. Maybe once ironed it will drape better.

This was a NAS top pick last year, and I love the shirt. The fabric is quite heavenly. Great fit, and you are soooo pretty, Elly. Please keep the white and not the tan. (I am still as bossy as I was last year). xo

I have last year's version of the shirt in cotton -- this one is Tencel, which tends to drape really well. I love this for you, Elly. I have enjoyed the cotton one, too, but of course it does not have the same drape.

I like it. I think the pockets are fine on this more relaxed shirt. Definitely a keeper.

I like it. I have the same fears about wearing a white top, but I think if you make sure to treat dirts and stains as soon as you can, it may not be a problem.

After careful consideration and reading all of your comments, I think I am going to keep it, but will check it out once more after the packing creases release. After all, 2014-2015 is all about putting it out there and trying new things for me.

Suzie, thanks for stopping by and welcome to the forum! Glad you are participating and that is a nice anaylsis, the pockets do seem to be a wee bit controversial, don't they?

Meredith-- thank you for the advice and commiseration. I've never tried it, maybe I should give it a whirl.

Thimblelina-- good to see you! Good point about the folds. Not at home today, but I will have to see if they relax and how it lays afterwards.

Ornella-- I could see how the lighting could throw the color. I don't look my best in clear white -- but as a rule I avoid creams too. Generally, I put something like that on and immediately want to take it off. I rather liked this color on me.

Unfrumped-- another Yay on the pockets. And good point about the Tencel--- I love the fabric, silky but still warm with a nice hand.

Jsloane, I appreciate you chiming it. I hadn't thought about the proportions coming off that way. Because I'm both broad-shouldered and chesty a lot of tops have a boxy look on me. I have to be very careful about lengths though -- I have very long arms and if the sleeves end at the same place, it only increases that affect. I think it is all in the styling.

Angie--- I'm glad you stopped in. Very glad that it gets your approval. I think the fit and fabric just feels fab. White it is!

Suz, I think the tencel will wash well-- my biggest complaint with cotton besides sometimes shrinking is how distorted lapels and pockets can become. I hope the tencel helps with this. I really value your opinion, and I'm glad you think it is a match.

Ms. Maven-- another yay for the pockets-- I like the casual look for myself, plus the touch of color from the stitching and buttons.
