Just say no June - anyone left?

A lot of us dropped off the band wagon this month. Seems once we declared time to step back, retailers tempted us with goodies!
Anyone left? Runcarla? MsMary? Pastrygirl?
I feel okay with my crash and burn. I had reason to believe BF's job might have been wrapping up early. Which would mean heading home to no jobs, and no shopping, so I let that influence my habits. The dalmatian tank was a slip, everything after that was a 'get it now, because in a few weeks you'll be SYC for REALS'. The job situation is more stable so I am now looking forward to No Buy July. I have all but maybe 2 things for summer. A casual straight skirt and a printed sundress. Neither of which I need. Everything else is a fall weather item and although I have things already picked out and lined up, I am going to wait on them. Not letting FOMO rule me this month. Besides, it's going to be 96 on Sunday and somehow buying a flannel shirt or an anorak isn't quite as enticing under those circumstances
So, who is still standing? How is the month going? White knuckling it or no big deal?

I'm still in, but I have a wishlist for July 1st already. The hardest part has been one pair of shoes wore out (the sole is separating from the shoe) and for the past week I've been wanting to shop for new shoes.

I'm definitely out. Bought the Metalicus dress and ordered the EF waxed skinnies. What can I say...I'm weak willed - lol!

I found I was just buying more out of FOMO, which I realize is an issue I have. Buying on sale/out of season makes missing out a real possibility, though. Not sure how to conquer that going forward.

I was doing so well until the 15th. Then J Crew and sneakers happened. That is ok, though. I need the shoes for summer and fall and the sweaters will transition into fall, also.

I didn't commit to it here because I didn't think I could do it... but inadvertently committed to it on my blog. I AM STILL HERE!! For the first time that I can ever remember, it has been WEEKS since I bought clothing or shoes! (I did buy one pair of gym shorts because my new gym gets incredibly hot, but I delayed that purchase for as long as I could!)

My wishlist is not specific to summer. I'm trying to keep a minimal wardrobe view and figuring out what I would really like to add, and want it to be high-quality only. I have enough low- mid-end things. I want to find a REALLY great sheath and a good cardigan that meets all my criteria. I'm going to start looking next week!

ETA: It's been white-knuckling all along! A new TJ Maxx opened at the end of my street, and I want to go every single day. I also keep reading about pennny finds at Nordstrom Rack. For >$500 items. PENNIES. I want to find one, too!

I'm out, as I said in my WIW post...only one item as it turned out, since the rest didn't fit/work and are heading back to Twice. I may also buy a pair of sandals since I already broke my fast - had one pair with a strap that tore which I posted about, and my 'bum around the house' flip flops are also starting to fall apart.

I am really conflicted about NAS this year. On one hand, it's fun to join in with everyone here, and I love a good deal. On the other hand, I have no clue what I'll be needing for fall if anything, and now that I've moved to a warmer microclimate, I probably won't need the fall stuff until late September at the earliest. Plus we just bought a house and every little bit of non-spending helps. What to do, what to do.

I didn't officially commit, but I have not been in the stores and haven't bought anything all month. Of course, part of the reason is that I bought so much stuff in April and May, and I still haven't worn everything.

The last few days I have been looking online, but haven't seen anything tempting.

Also, Inspired by some of you here, I've done some closet analysis and purging, including some never worn items I bought last year on summer sales.

For me the end of a season is not a good time to experiment with color or new styles. By the time summer came around again, I no longer wanted to wear the items.

I'm in or out, depending on how much Girl Math I indulge in. LOL I did pick up the Olivia Moon linen blazer in another color (or two...), but I also returned a couple pair of shoes from May, so... I'm saying it evens out. I'm definitely under budget for the month and for year-to-date, so that's good.

I'm looking at buying a house soon so the budget is going to be quite tight. I plan to continue to be much, much more selective than I have been. And I'm feeling good about having largely shed the constantly-shopping mentality.

So I'm calling it a big success so far!!

Well, I didn't commit, had no intentions of committting, and what a good thing. If I had not only would my tail be firmly between my legs, the rest of my body would have followed. This has been my most excessive month to date I think - well, volume wise, maybe not cost wise. Crazy.

But I will be making some serious "Half year's resolutions".

Mo, I have also had the issue of purchasing because I see others getting fab new stuff, and similar to purchasing because of SA pressure from Ornella's thread, these pieces rarely end up being workhorses for me. When I don't consider my needs I am not successful with purchases. And I stopped purchasing out of season items, because even though it may be a good deal, it took me a long time but I now realize it is far more fun to purchase something, wear it right away, and see it turn into a workhorse than to purchase something, have to save it (in the boutique or because it's out of season) and wear it later. Even though it is still 'new' when later rolls around, it no longer feels 'new' to me because I've owned it for a while.

Hanging in, and even managed to defer the BIG purchase to July!

Tomorrow we hand over the keys for our current house. July 2 we close on our new house!

DH and I just had out 32nd anniversary. I told him it was the 'bricks and mortar' anniversary!

Hi.

Except for my sandal slip (which I am happy to have), no purchases in June. It helps that I was on vacation in Santa Fe this month. I really wanted to check out J. Crew in town, but I remembered an essay I read about travelers in Spain squandering time in Zara rather than soaking up local culture, so I held strong. Santa Fe style isn't my style, so zero temptation from local stores. I did see one cute storefront sign, " Life is short, buy the damn bag", but bags had feathers, fringe, and silver studs so I did not.

Have bought clothes for my sons and DH though, but not so much as a pair of socks for myself. In fact socks and a woolen hat are the first thing on the list for July. After that I will be waiting until spring clothing hits the shops.
Where I live the winter is not short, but also not extreme so I don't have a large need for a lot of winter clothes....but trans-seasonal spring/autumn clothes get a lot of wear.

Oh, Lyn - FOMO stands for fear of missing out. It's my impulse to buy now before it's gone and I lose out.
