Mine are yellow gold. The engagement ring is a solitaire and the wedding band has rubies in it that wrap around the engagement ring. I have been feeling of late though that my ring is a bit young for me now. I am wanting to have it redone as one ring with a wider band and leave the rubies off.

I have my original gold wedding band that is part of my set including my engagement ring. It is just a plain gold band.

My husband bought me an anniversary ring on our 10th wedding anniversary that is gold with three small diamonds. That is what I wear when I want gold on.

On our 20th wedding anniversary we were on vacation in the Queen Charlotte's and my husband bought me a Haida wedding ring. It is a traditional wedding band made by the Haida Indians (they hand make them) and has an engraving of an eagle eye in the centre representing your heart "seeing" into the soul of your mate, and then two whale tales on either side of the eye representing life long loyalty. This one I wear when I want silver on.

My husband chose all of these and I wouldn't change a thing - I love them!

Cool! Until YLF I never knew one could have more than one wedding band (with the same husband!)

My ring is silver with rose gold edges (i.e. silver inside, rose gold on top and bottom of band.) The silver is lightly engraved. We bought our rings together in Israel.

I do not have an engagement ring. I was wearing my mother's...until I lost the diamond.

Sad face.

Still haven't replaced it.

My rings are yellow gold. My husband surprised me with an engagement ring, something from his family that was totally not my style. (Normally I love vintage, and am very sentimental, but this was very masculine-looking). I picked out my own wedding band to try to coordinate with this ring, and don't much like it either. It has small diamonds in the front but is plain gold around the back.

For our 10th anniversary I picked out my own engagement ring, a heart shaped diamond with a filigree band. I've always wanted to get the matching filigree wedding band, plain yellow gold with no stones in it, but I've been out of work and then the store where I got the engagement ring went out of business. I'll have to track down another jeweler that sells from that company.

I wear a wedding ring set in white gold. It consists of my wedding band which has a row of small inset diamonds on the top and my engagement ring with a diamond solitaire. The top of the engagement ring as you look down on it is plain white gold, but the sides are engraved with a pattern. What I want more than anything is to duplicate the band and stack the three rings together with the engagement ring in the middle. I almost had my husband convinced that the 5-year anniversary was the diamond anniversary in an attempt to get the second band, but he caught onto me! Next year is our 10-year and I'll try to convince him again that it's time for the second band. Now that I have a gold watch, I'm thinking that I'd like to get two slim gold bands to wear on either side of my white gold engagement ring in order to provide some metal continuity. My husband hasn't quite bought into that idea either. (yet - LOL!)

I have two. Both are two tone yellow and white gold and with diamonds. Both have yellow gold bands and white gold settings. The first I picked out - a three stone diamond anniversary band. The second was given to my husband by his Dad about 3 years after we were married (Dad passed away about 6 months later so he may have known something). It was his Dad's wedding ring and his Dad's mother's before that. He was a pretty small man, so our ring fingers were the same size and it fit me perfectly. It's pretty special, being about 90 years old and originally from China and worn by 3 generations. I wear that one all the time and occasionally wear my original band on my other hand. I would hate to have the heirloom ring stolen because even with insurance it would be irreplaceable, so I try to keep that with me all of the time. I remember when I picked out my 3 stone ring I wished we could have afforded bigger diamonds, but Dad's ring has a nice big stone so in retrospect it's probably good that we saved the money for other things.

Hubby picked out my first ring. It was a single round solitaire set in platinum. I never really liked it. For my 10th anniversary I got it completely reset. I melted down the matching bands and had the diamond set in a halo. I love how it turned out. I don't have bands anymore and I don't wear it on my wedding ring hand either. After 10 years, I feel like I don't need a "wedding ring" or "engagement ring" anymore. That always felt like my starter baby ring. This is my real adult ring that fits my current style.

I had seen an antique ring that I liked the shape of--center stone, side laying marquis diamonds on either side and then bezel set round diamonds on the outside. My husband found a similar shape by a modern designer that had a matching wedding band. The band includes diamonds and contours to the bottom of the engagement ring so that it maintains it's unique shape. I'd eventually like to get another band for the top--maybe on our 10th or 20th anniversary. I still catch myself admiring it daily, so I'd choose it over and over again.

I am so, so picky about my jewelry that I wanted to choose my own ring. It was an ordeal! The trend when I got engaged was much fancier. I needed a shallow setting, 18K or better because of my metal allergies, a very thin band because my short fingers can only take so much. I also wanted white gold, something clean, modern but a little art deco, simple but different.

Bought a cushion cut stone separately and finally found a bar setting - really liked the square-on-square effect. I now wear with a plain white gold band that is about the same width as the band on the ering.

If I could do it again, with the same budget, I'd do the same. If I were to do it again right now, I might opt for platinum because white gold requires you to redo the rhodium finish every so often. I might have even considered having something made in stainless steel.

Fun thread! I have one ring, a plain platinum band that's identical to my SO's ring. I'm not into engagement rings or diamonds or any sort of precious stones, so it suits me perfectly. We agreed together to get married, after lots of foot dragging on my part, so no "popping the question" or any of that stuff, and we picked out our bands together.

My wedding band is a very plain white gold band. I have two "engagement" rings though. The first my husband had designed, and it's what he surprised me with when he proposed -- it has a sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds, and it's mixed yellow and white gold. The sapphire chipped before the wedding, though, which bummed both of us out, but I still happily wore it for years.

Last year my husband surprised me with a new ring -- it's vintage, and he saw it in a store in San Francisco while there on business. He didn't buy it when he first saw it, but he never forgot it. Almost a year later while back there, he checked in the store, and sure enough, it was still there, so he got it for me. It's platinum with two large diamonds in an unusual setting, which he really liked as representing the two of us coming together.

you know, i went through a phase of wearing my engagement ring until we got married. then i briefly wore both then i didn't feel like wearing my engagement or my wedding ring anymore for about 3-4 years. for the past five, i've worn my wedding ring only and feel naked without it. now i'm considering wearing the whole set again.

weird. i'm sure it says more about me than i intended!

I'm loving these answers! They are all so different.

I forgot to include mine. Hubby proposed with a huge fake plastic ring, the kind you get from a gumball machine. It was very funny. But he knew I'd be picky. We went shopping together and I chose a yellow gold band with the words "vous et nul autre" (you and no other) on it, then had a sapphire engagment ring made to match. I never really liked the gold-and-sapphire ring though, and I wished I'd chosen a square diamond in white gold. Mostly I just wore the yellow gold band. Ten years later, after the birth of our second child, he surprised me with a second shopping trip, this time for a diamond ring. So this is what I now have, and love, and wear every single day:

1. white gold diamond ring + plain white gold band
2. square diamond flanked by a small teardrop-shaped diamonds
3. chose them myself
4. yes, but I reserve the right to get it re-set one day if my taste changes (which it does from time to time!)

I don't wear mine. It's a cheap gold band - my husband and I had them made in India. It is hanging on a carabiner on my climbing harness, which is actually a safe place for it. I took it on and off so often for climbing that I figured it was easier just to leave it there!

Mine is white gold with a rose gold braid in the band. I didn't want anything with stones so that I didn't have to take it off in the garden or when working in the lab. I chose it, and he wears the matching band. I would pick this again, yes, for sure.

My original wedding band set is yellow gold; the engagement ring has a diamond. My DH and I picked it out together.

Years later, I found a white gold guard ring to wear with the original yellow gold rings to create a two-tone set. The guart ring has a unique floral-like design (it's hard to describe) that wraps around the diamond.

I wouldn't change a thing, and I'm happily married to the same sweet man. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary in December.

This is a fun thread. No wedding, no wedding ring here... lol, but I like hearing about everyone's rings and why.

...I can't get married because the ring I like is this one I saw in a downmarket mall... this giant heart shaped diamond on a thin little band of gold. I don't know how to explain it, it was just the tackiest thing ever and I loved it. I mean, it was probably zircon when I think about it. You know, totally out of the question.

Hubby and i had been dating for several years, and talking about marriage on and off. One day I was volunteering at the local food pantry and picked up a nail in my tire in parking lot of the food pantry, which until recently had been a Home Depot store. We went to Costco to get a new tire, and while we were waiting for it to be installed, we did a lap around the warehouse, including the jewelry case.

Lo and behold, there was a lovely set of his-and-hers wedding bands, exactly fitting the description of what we said we would like if/when we ever got married! Our rule for shopping at Costco is "buy it when you see it, because it may never be there again," so we bought the matching rings "just in case." Then a few days later we found ourselves at a local jewelry store having an engagement ring made to match the wedding band, again "just in case." And a few weeks after that, he popped the question! Big fun!!

And yes, I would choose it again! I love my rings! I usually only wear both of them when I am out and about, but I wear my wedding band all the time except when I am sleeping or bathing. (I used to wear it 24/7 but a few years ago I got a nasty case of exzema on that finger so now I take my ring off and let my finger "breathe" at night! Seems to keep the rashies and itchies away!)

Never been married--- I was engaged for a year. The engagement ring was a modest white gold solitaire. I'm left handed and have issues comfortably wearing a lot of rings on my left hand because of the peculiar way I write--- so right away the ring was uncomfortable and the stock sizing and high setting only made it more so. It was also disappointing because he'd asked for my input and I'd explained that I'd wouldn't be able to wear something to work where any stones stuck up high off my finger and could scratch and snag things or puncture gloves.

In the future I'm not sure I'll ever be engaged again or married. If I am, the ring/s aren't terribly important to me, and I honestly don't know how much wear they would see depending on comfort level and the style/setting because of work and spending much of my other time either at home or in outdoors pursuits. I do like the look of various styles of rings, especially worn as an everyday piece with a watch and/or studs, but don't know that I could ever personally justify the price especially since there is a good chance I wouldn't wear anything on many occasions for comfort or practical reasons.

I've often thought I'd rather have to money to put towards a home or car or trip or even camera equipment. I do have family diamonds that could be reset affordably, either choosing just one and having it set in a "glove safe" setting, or setting them back together again (two different rings that a family member had reset in a pendant I don't and won't ever wear) with the realization that it would have to be an occasional piece of jewelry.

Of course, if a SO bought me a ring I'd accept it graciously, but would hope that it was something I could comfortably wear to work or that they were accepting of me only wearing it sometimes.

I have loved seeing this thread, such fun.

DH popped the question on Christmas Day 2002 with a simple solitaire set in 18ct yellow gold band and held in place with eight rhodium plated prongs.

The wedding band was hand made in Covent Garden and is a mixture of yellow, rose and white 18ct gold.

We added the modest eternity band a year after our wedding.

I would not change my rings for the world but they do need a blinkin' good clean. Actually I feel when my clothing choice is consistent with the my wedding bands that I look my best.

Mine's yellow gold with etching. I'm not a diamond person (I know!). We picked it together. I love it & would choose it again. I have a funny story about it. When we moved about 15 years ago I lost the ring - I had no idea where. I felt too bad about it took look for a replacement. A year later I was replanting some lilac bushes that we had brought with us - I'd planted them in the wrong spot & they weren't doing well. Guess what I found in amongst the roots of one of the bushes? Yes the ring.
