Just for fun & feedback - man coat & two sweaters

1. So I saw what appears to be a good "man coat" example & decided to try it on. True to my usual experience, in order to have room for my hips, the top is pretty big on me. Or is that how they should be?

2. My uneasy relationship with turtlenecks continues. Love the color blocking, but unsure whether this is doing anything for me.

3. I kinda regret not jumping on the Equipment snake print sweater last year. This one is cashmere and not bad.

Nothing pressing. Just getting ideas. Feedback welcome!

I love the snakeskin, I like the turtleneck, but think it's the way the black goes so straight up on the shoulders that makes me unsure. I think the coat has too much structure (that waist seems a bit high?)

The colour blocked one would be really, really good on you if it had raglan sleeves rather than normal ones. As it is the effect is too blocky, but black and gray are definitely "your colours" and the high neck works too.

Not crazy about the snakeskin.

The man coat is hard to tell. It's hard to see detail with a black item in photographs.

I like both the sweaters! I can't see a lot of detail on the coat (on laptop). But I thought man coats went straight down with no waist?

I like the snakeskin one a lot. The colorblock sweater looks too square or something.

The coat does seem too big for you. But I also don't think it's a man coat because it has a waist.

I think I am not going to agree with the others. I like the coat and the tneck but not so much the snakeskin.

I have been thinking about changing my hair and just looking at your pic makes me want longer sweeping bangs like yours. I may have to print a pic of your hair to take to the hair dresser if I ever find her phone number.

I don't see coat's details very well but it does not look like a men coat to me.
I like the t-neck. Is it fitted or "fluid"? If it is fitted i WOULD TRY A SIZE UP.

The snake sweater is nice but something is missing for me -and I cannot identify what...
I am not much help, right?

my honest opinion: your current wardrobe is far superior. Adding any of these would not enhance it. Pass on all three.

The Trouve coat just looks a bit big. I am sensitive to turtlenecks because I feel like they make my big chest look even bigger... I think the stuff you have already is far better. The snake sweater is nice, but I vote to track down the original:

I love having time to explore and try things on:) the coat does look too big, the turtle neck is ok... it just doesn't shout out 'fab' to me and if you don't mind me saying I just don't find the second sweater to be the most flattering for you. I actually tried on a similar sweater today and I think having a large bust, with the pattern and the fact that it is a knit just created more 'bulk' than i want. I think the snakeskin in a silk blouse would work perfectly for you.

starting with #3 --i like this, but followed rae's link, and i liked the that one even more.
#2, love the color blocking, but not the turtleneck. in full disclosure, i own the cotton crew neck version of this sweater, which if you are interested in currently on sale at nordies.

Thanks, everyone! I was trying these on for fun, more than for serious shopping. Just getting an idea of what works or doesn't, and why. My sweater collection appears to need a little refreshing, so I've been trying on a bunch and taking pictures for a change, just to challenge my eye and my preconceived notions of what works on me. I default to V-necks and non-boxy shapes, so I just want to keep my mind open. If I'd gotten overwhelming raves on something here, I might have gone back and investigated further.

The man coat really doesn't have a defined waist at all -- it's very straight. I think the color blocking actually makes it look a little more like there is a waist. I wasn't in love with it on me, but thought it was worth posting.

I liked the sweaters more, but not enough to make the leap. kkards, I love that Vince color block sweater. There's a turtleneck version that I really like, and this sweater reminded me of it, but at a more reasonable price point. I might try on the Vince version if I see it. I also like the one you posted. I'm unsure of the size though -- I'm usually between a 6 and an 8, which puts me right in between a S and M in that sweater. I suppose I could order both...

And darn it, I want that snake print Equipment sweater in blue, but cannot find it in stock anywhere, much less in a size that will fit me. I think that ship has sailed, unless someone has a source I have not yet found.

I'm with Rae too. I have the Equipment sweater in blue, and it is fab. Wish I'd gotten the green but I felt it was redundant with my silk shirt.
