Just for fun - what random colour keeps showing up for you?

Hi there, this is a just an oddity that I noticed that I wonder if others experience as well. Do you have a colour that you don't necessarily give any conscious thought to, or set out to buy, that keeps popping up in your stuff?

To me, it's this very specific pinky/purple; not sure what it would be called (fuschia I think) - I never look for it, but yet, I keep finding it in random items - my Crocs that I use for cleaning the showers and wearing at the lake, my Fitbit, a random beach bag, a scarf I bought for a spring pick-me-up, a pair of gym socks ... I don't know why but I suppose I must have some positive association with it!

Anyways, just wondering if others have such a colour, and if so, what is it? And should/would you buy more of it now that you think of it? And what on earth does it mean?!?!?

Oh, for me it's definitely purple, various shades from eggplant to orchid. I never set out looking for purple, but I always have a lot of it!

At the moment it happens to be various shades of blue, but I have a decided preference for certain shades of purple that for some reason are elusive for the time being. There will be a lot of purple in my wardrobe once those shades return.

I haven't bought anything yet, but tomato red has appeared on my shopping radar, probably as an influence of YLF. Right now, I'm eating tomato soup, and wishing I had something in my closet that color.

For a while I had a lot of grass/pea green showing up. A lambswool sweater at Old Navy; a suede belt somewhere else (Kohl's? Penneys?); pricey 1930s reproduction suede shoes in an ebay search.

This year it has definitely been burgundy/maroon. I'm happy with that - maroon is my school color!

I have the same fitbit. But my DH picked it out. I did not realize until a few years ago that I have a lot of purple. I used to think my color is red. But I have a ton of lilac, eggplant, orchid, the whole spectrum of purple shades. I was surprised when I realized that.

Pink. I hated pink for much of my life, but starting three or four years ago it just kept popping up for some reason. It still isn't my FAVORITE color to wear, but I like it just fine. It just can't be, say, a pastel pink floral dress. I can rock pink and black stripes, pink in something with color blocking, or a pink sweater with a bit of texture.

Hmm, I do notice most of my gearish stuff from running shoes and socks to fleece pullovers are raspberry in shade.

For the last year, almost every piece of clothing I've bought is a dark shade of blue. I just haven't seen this much blue in a while and was happy to change my main neutral from black to blue. Really ready to mix it up and get more color this year though.

Columbine -- I know exactly what you mean about that weird pinkish-purple shade that seems to predominate in the gear world. I try not to care too much about what color my gear is, and buy whatever is on the clearance rack, since it's just going to get dirty and sweaty and chewed to pieces anyway, but those colors that seem specifically designed to say, "I'm active yet still feminine!" drive me a little batty.

I feel sorry for men though -- gear seems to be full of neon yellow and green right now, which I know some folks love, but for trail runners and Polartec it's really an unfortunate look... and it always seems to come paired with charcoal or navy, just to make sure you realize how extremely bright that yellow/citron really is...

Without really planning to, I've acquired a few pieces with red, and a couple weeks ago I decided I would enjoy wearing more of it. So now I'm becoming intentional about adding red. I used to wear a lot of it and loved it but stopped when I developed rosacea about ten years ago. I thought red was too much with my flushed face. But now I'm loving it again!

I would say mustard or related muted shades of orange or rust.
I don't look for that in any clothing or main colors, but it shows up in prints and scarves I love, I think it balances berries, plums, black. Maybe another "color" is a grayed or cool off-white for same reason--I don't go for solid tops in that color, but it works in prints, tweeds, dots.

Ah, LaPed, I wonder of that's what my shade is lol!!! Maybe that's why I have it! Windchime, so glad you can re-embrace an old favorite. Columbine, you will have fun mixing some color in with your neutral blues. Kaelyn, I think pink would be beautiful on you. Catseye, anither purple girl. Ginger, beautiful colors. I love burgundy. Xtabay, inspiration in a bowl of soup, I love it!

La Pedestrienne, yes! I need new running shoes; maybe I'll find some reasonably priced ones of another color combo than black and raspberry.
I like REI for certain gear but sheesh they choose some garish shades.

Yes pink....I also have gear in this colour, and have ended up with a few clothing items despite rarely going out to buy anything pink.

However I think it does suit me..

I would love to see gear in more colours than just black and pink - these colours predominate round here.

Omg this is such an eye opener ... Here I thought there was some deep reason for my pinky purple random items and now I see it could be just because that's the default girly color in some item categories!! Lol!

Mine is yellow-green, from a light olive to neon. I have no idea why I gravitate to this greeny yellow. I was even seriously considering a cashmere sweater in a bright grass green not long ago. I have bought it in jeans, a cotton tank, and a small scarf, and each time wondered what was possessing me. But I know I'd love to have this color for specs.

Purple! I try to avoid it, but it just keeps popping up! Best V-neck sweater ever! Leather jacket. Gym tank, bra, and jacket. Change purse. Bathrobe. My new specs. Plants in the garden. The tulips I picked up at the grocery store this week!

Light Teal, a bit lighter than my glasses. The same as my fit bit.

Fuchsia!!!! I never set out to build a fuchsia accessories capsule, but there it is!!!! It just happened over time.

It must be some sort of statement color for me because just the other day I noticed other women at work duplicating it. That pleased me no end.

BTW the happiness factor cannot be described.

Usually it's teal, but right now I'm having a weird rust/copper moment -- I'm attracted to it, and I'm realizing that I have some items (mostly scarves, really) that combine those rusty/coppery shades with my more preferred blue-green colors. It's a nice combination, so I'm not fighting it, and in fact, might make an effort to incorporate those colors into my outfits more consciously. It's a nice alternative to my usual blacks and greys.

Purple and pink show up frequently in my normal wardrobe. Funnily enough, my workout gear is all grey and yellow. That's just what I happened to find when I was looking fpr a couple new gear tanks and several people gifted me items in the same color shceme.

Red. There is almost none in my wardrobe, but I got a red flowered sweater as a gift from a dear friend who thought it "looked like me" and I keep reaching for it.

It's fun to get a bit of insight from someone else!

Dark purple, and that burgundy/oxblood colour that's everywhere all of a sudden. For a while, I carried a burgundy bag to work everyday, and just considered it my work bag without trying to match it to my outfits. I realized I must have a thing for the colour when coworkers started teasing my about always matching my bag to my outfit - I had 3 different pairs of burgundy pants.

For me, this would be pink and purple. I have quite a few purple pieces for someone who never consciously goes hunting for any clothing/shoes in that colour.
