So, most, if not all of us, have a descriptor and a style of dressing that we like and adhere to most of the time.
Here's where we can have a bit of fun... If you could choose another style of dressing that was quite different to your own or even a total opposite, what would it be? Don't worry if it wouldn't fit in with your lifestyle or location or job. This is purely for fun. But you never know, it might reveal a slight new direction for some of us.
I'll kick off by saying that I have alway been drawn to a real tough kind of Rock Chic look, with sassy boots and leather jackets. But I also love the idea of a kind of vintage/arty look a la Vivienne Westwood. Yes, I know I've chosen two, but it's my thread
So let your imagination fly and tell me your style alter ego.

Hmm, maybe more UWP like Rae and Una. Or a little more rocker in a subdued way. I did buy a fun shiny black waxed cotton moto jacket for this coming fall/winter so I guess it's not complete fantasy. I haven't purchased black boots but they are on my "maybe" list.

Take me back to the mid '60s. Mod all the way. All my underwear is retro as my modern nod to the era.

I already have a few personas. I would have to say mod, though I already have some pieces. It is opposite to my boho, though my favourite boho is 60s & 70s so the same period as 60s mod. What is opposite to my rock chick? I used to dress like an 80s yuppie for a while in the 80s. I like Victoria Beckham's style. What do you call that? Bombshell?

I'd go with a drapey, arty, all black wardrobe and a short asymmetrical haircut. Unfortunately black is an awful colour on me. I guess I could do the hair though. Hmmm...

In a more realistic vein, today, I'd go *modern steampunk.*

In a less realistic, but still somewhat practical, vein, I'd go Edwardian.

Totally unrealistic, I'd go Classical period - Mozart and Marie Antoinette.

Someone give me a full-length skirt!

Sleek, colorful minimalist. Ladylike and dressy. Love the idea of it, but I don't think it will ever happen.

Wow, thanks Angie! I love 3 and 4. I'm showing my age now, but there was an actress called Alexandra Bastedo who starred in a sixties show, can't remember the name, but she wore clothes like that. Fab!!

The style that always has my heart is UWP (Helmut Lang, Allsaints), but my "shadow style" (Suz's term") is Kate Spade - not my secondary style but what I secretly would love to pull off!

My true secondary style is probably minimalist/streamlined - witness the Theory suit.

You know, we had a thread last year about our "shadow styles." It's a good read!

Back then, I said boho.

But you know what? I have lost my secret yen or attraction to boho. Not to say that I don't sometimes enjoy a boho influence here or there, and I do enjoy the style on others. But I don't think it is my style alter ego any more.

So what is? I'm not sure! What I like about being an "urban prince" is that I can be androgynous, ladylike, a little punk, a little trendy, and a whole lot modern. For me, it's the perfect blend and satisfies my cravings.

So maybe my shadow style is simply a dressier version of same. My MOTG, work-at-home, casual life puts me generally in the boyish, androgynous urban prince looks. But sometimes I like the super-feminine option.

Thanks for linking to the old thread, Suz! I had forgotten about that one. I went back to look what I answered and it was "androgynous, tough, cool rocker chic". So completely different to what I showed above. I do think the style persona in this thread might be more in line with my actual style and definitely more doable.

60's for sure for me. I'd like to be the woman in Angie's third picture. Jacqueline Kennedy was my first fashion icon, but mod and Twiggy fit in too.
