As promised, a post about my job. I work at a produce stand that apparently doubles as a petting zoo. There's a cat, a pig, and a goat. Some days my Mollie is there too, but not today because too dang hot! Speaking of hot, the cat (Fred) has more sense than the boss & I--he spent much of the day in the walk-in cooler.
Buddy the pig is my sweetheart. Murphy the goat is sweet but he's BAD--he steals a lot of produce and eats it LOL
We sell locally raised grass fed beef, locally raised pork, local free range organic eggs, local organic honey, we're famous for our tomatoes, and the avocados are some cornbread fed looking giants (so are our mangos, watermelons, and our current batch of purple onions).
Next door to us is a Greek deli/bakery, run by Elsa. Elsa was born in Greece, learned to cook from her grandmother in Greece, and makes some seriously divine baclava. Her gyros and spinach pie and tzatziki are superb, and her pastries are too yummy.
Behind us is a food truck that is to BBQ what Elsa is to Greek food. Those guys out a hurting on some meat, and they make some green beans that taste like ham or smoked meat or something. I do NOT like smoked sausage, yet their beef smoked sausage is delicious. Their pulled pork sandwiches are an entire meal and change without any sides, and their brisket is mouthwatering.
My boss is one of the most gracious and patient souls I've met. Well, except for the goat; the goat is definitely the thing he does that irks me LOL. That goat is high maintenance gah. No matter how badly I math, the man takes the time to talk me through it until I get it right. I can count fine, but I cannot account fine.
I love my job!
