June SYC - week one check in

A few fabbers agreed to join me on a shopping fast for June, so I thought I'd check in and see how we're doing. As of tonight, we are 25% of the way through June!

This week I have gotten a few birthday discount/credit emails (my birthday is at the end of the month) but so far, so good. Haven't bought anything yet!

My plan for the next week involves a thorough sort of my closet, which houses all of my dresses, woven tops and blazers. I have a wedding to attend next month, so I really need to double-check that my cocktail dresses still fit or there may be some shopping in my future after all.

How about everyone else?

I'm on track,too, but I have to admit that this is the status quo for me: not so much a challenge, more away of life.

I'm still on track as well. I do have to confess it's going to be fairly easy for the first couple of weeks, as I still have purchases trickling in that I ordered at the end of May. Mind you, I enjoy ordering and browsing as much as I do receiving and wearing, so not getting anything IS a step in the right direction.

Summer, you were planning on not shopping most of the summer, right? If so, I'm glad you don't find it terribly challenging. I would struggle not shopping for three months, I think.

Elizabeth, enjoy the rest of your May purchases! And any progress is good progress, right? I've never been one to enjoy browsing/window shopping so hopefully more of that will get you through the latter part of the month.

I'm hoping to save my shopping money until next month's NAS sale, so have sort of joined SYC June. This week a silk shirt arrived but I actually bought it on EBay in May. All the rain some parts slowed delivery. I couldn't resist a silk shirt that has monkeys, snakes, and what looks like a Japanese princess Rapunzel. But nothing bought this week. If something I need and am looking for comes along at a good price, I will probably buy.

Joy, that brings to mind a question... will there be a NAS this year? I thought that Nordstroms changed their sale model, to price match and have more frequent seasonal sales, so I wasn't sure what that meant for NAS.

And I've been thinking about NAS myself. This is the first time I'll be living close enough to a Nordstrom to check it out, so saving money in June seems wise. NAS is part of why I haven't committed to a full summer of SYC. And Elizabeth, I really hope their new sales policy won't interrupt NAS but I have no idea.

Elizabeth, I have no idea. If there is no NAS, ( or even if there is). I will probably be needing to replenish and refresh my hot weather wardrobe by then as hot is our longest season.

I hadn't intended to do SYC for June, but when I realized I'd spent most of my June budget by June 3 (!), I decided radical steps needed to be taken so I have money for next month's NAS. It's funny; I had spent very little on clothes the first few months of the year; then we got into May and I became a clothes-buying machine. I think it had to do with being so happy when spring finally arrived...

Elizabeth P: I'm sure there will be a NAS this year! The half yearly sales at Nordstrom are clearance sales, usually. And NAS is usually fall clothing or wear now in fall colors.

I actually did do some shopping. I just joined a gym and then realized I have NO gym pants since none of the ones in my drawer fit me anymore. So I bought 2 pairs that I am determined to make due until I can fit back into my smaller size. Also, I picked up a cheap swim suit in my bigger size since they have a pool and they recommended the swim aerobics since i have foot and joint problems. So it wasn't FUN shopping but technically I still broke my shopping ban in the first week....

Windchime, I hear you on shopping because of spring excitement. I did much the same thing and that's why I'm taking a step back. But at least you have NAS to look forward to next month!

Marlene, it sounds like you made some important purchases for your own health. I have joint problems too and water therapy is always so nice! If it motivates you to keep going to the gym, it's worth it.
