or bustin' out a move with these colorful shoes........
I seem to be practicing "internal winter avoidance" this year, and I've been eyeing these colorful slip-ons. I imagine wearing them late March-May, when I'm sick of booties, but it's not yet warm enough for pedicures and free toes.

I've included a couple of sensible, but textured black examples at the end.

Keeping in mind that I don't have dainty feet or legs, which pair would you suggest? What footwear do you most love in 45-75F temps?

I like the lower vamp of the Bernie Mev style. And I like the red lace-ups. But the first ones are just so fun, with the flowers, and I think those are colors that go with your wardrobe nicely, right? I like that the print is so feminine and old-fashioned, contrasted with the casual style of the sneaker.

Beth Ann - all I can say is "Happy Feet!!" This is the kind of thing I'd take a chance on. Buy a happy pair, something that works color wise but is a total departure. If you wear a lot of black the Halogen Turner would be fun but will play nicely with the wardrobe. Why is it everyone has cabin fever so early this winter. I am so longing for spring too!! Trying to get punxatawney phil's email address!! No shadow!!

You've found a promising collection of shoes and I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Do you already own black slip-on sneakers? If not, that is a classic look. But the florals are very fun and spring like. And, all that being said, I just added the red sneakers to my Finds. I love the energy of the red color and they look like they would be comfortable and have decent support for walking.

So I guess that wasn't much help, was it? Are you leaning toward one of them?

Oh these are FAB for warm weather Beth Ann and could be worn in a sporty luxe outfit. Especially love the first floral pair with the black background. I could see those with my black EF dress for work...oh sorry....this isn't all about me is it? Lol!

What a fun collection of shoes! I can't pick just one favorite. Please report back on what you get and how the fit is, I just tried a pair of slip ons (Josef Siebel Caspian 06) but they didn't work.

I wish I could wear slip on sneaks....

You know, when it is 45F I am still in booties. I don't really go sock-less until it is around 70F at least. My ankles get chilly. Maybe sometimes I'd go without socks at around 65F ... but it would have to be in the sun.

And I don't consider myself to run cold. Hmmm.

Now you understand why for years I had only boots and sandals. There are very few truly shoe-worthy days (for me) in my climate. Because by the time it reaches 75F or so, I'm ready for sandals, esp. if it is also humid.

Anyway. My "between" shoes are:

Hi-top sneakers worn sock-less
A pair of animal print wedge heeled pumps
A pair of colourblock oxfords
One rarely worn pair of black almond toe flats.

You've got an eye for Spring colors and these are all wonderful. Thinking about you, your colors and style, Beth Ann, I was immediately thinking of the first ones, the Halogen red florals; I also like the fifth pair, the Bernies, as a neutral choice to bookend your hair. Any of them would be great for you.

Of course I'd pick the red Stan Smith's because, Stan Smiths. I could think of 10 ways I'd wear these (for the glamourous fashion editor life I do not lead) . They seem super practical to me on a few levels: patent is easy-care in dodgy weather, red is a great spring pick-me-up/neutral, and the shape is classic. I see others are all for the florals - I don't get them, personally, but that's what this is all about, right? Different love for different things:)

I love the first floral but the red seem more versatile - I know I'd find them easier to style than the floral unless I was wearing mostly solids or classic patterns like stripes or polka dots or something.

I tried last summer to get accustomed to a more feminine shape of a slip on, but I ended up falling back on my Converse slips, that are more similar to your red choice. The thing with the slips is, they are cute and RATE, and they go equally well with cropped pants or skinny jeans. I found that even with the more feminine styles I tried, it was not something I wore with skirts, so I just fell back to the converse. Another style for your consideration.

ETA: I'm 5'8" and not the dainty type, at all, so I can relate to your stature!

Coming back to this thread late --- I had an unexpected trip to be with my Dad who had angioplasty today -- all is well, but I'm zonked! I could have used some fun sneaks today, well, except for the snow and ice!

The black Halogen and red Stan Smiths are in the lead! Several of you who know my wardrobe guessed correctly that these were work with some of my current items. My slightly wide forefoot makes for an easy fit with this style, in general.

The red ones appeal, too, of course. Dimity, I love your link!

Shannon: One of the things I love about YLF is gaining inspiration from you for my wardrobe ideas. Happy to have it go the other way!

Suz: I think I don't like the confinement of winter clothes and boots. I don't mind cool ankles, because they feel, well, "free!"

Vicki: I don't have a pair of black in this style -- I might duplicate if the fit is good.

Lisap: I hadn't thought about how fab the red would be on a rainy day. Spring is full of those!

Kitty: I do have lots of printed tops --- the clash of patterns is a consideration!

Annabelle: I have a pair of classic white converse. Angie talked me into them, but I love them now!
