July sales - question

Are there crazy sales like this every July? Or is this year somehow extra sale-tastic? Yes I know NAS happens every July, but my inbox is just inundated with 70% of offers from tons of stores, and I don't remember it being like this in previous years. I always thought that August and "back to school" sales were the time to shop, now I'm wondering if I need to readjust to July for the future.

There do seem to be a lot of high discounts this year - I've seen 60% at Ann Taylor, 40% at BR, 50% off at Eddie Bauer. Maybe the sales this summer weren't as big as retailers hoped?

I remember this from last year, too. I think it's pretty common now. Might have changed from previous years. They are moving the merchandise out to make room for fall.

i think that the weather has impacted apparel sales---the cold, long winter meant a late start to spring shopping. and then the wet spring, and inconsistant tempature in summer, impact peoples need to buy tees, tanks, shorts etc. so stores need to get rid of the spring/summer goods to make room for the fall/winter, which for many stores were ordered last Dec

Well, I personally think folks keep moving it up and up. I no longer know what seasonal year we're shopping. But I agree, that I don't remember seeing numbers like 70% off before. Not like this.

I have to wonder if anyone pays quote-unquote full price anymore.
