Joining the day dress club - Boden 'Louisa' and 'Phoebe'

The Boden order arrived, and I did a quick try-on (pics below). Canadians order from the UK site, so I depended on the posted size guide and ordered UK size 12. The labels inside the dresses say UK 12/US 8.

#1 and #2 is the 'Louisa'. I was pleasantly surprised by the midi length and love the flowey 3/4 sleeves! There is a waist sash that I wrapped to tie in the front when I wore it out to Bridge Night because I did not want to sit against a knot.

#3 and #4 is the 'Phoebe' (tall per Suz's recommendation). I love that it has pockets! Will be wearing it tomorrow whilst running errands.

The 'Phoebe' is a replacement for a nearly identical dress that was just worn out. The 'Louisa' is something different for me - more 'busy' than I am used to, but perfect for how I'm feeling now. It is an easy, breezy, happy summer dress.

Beautiful choices. 1 is lovely, and the sleeves are dramatic. 3 looks super, it is a very pretty blue.

They're lovely! The Phoebe looks like a really comfortable and versatile dress that you could dress up or down.

Gorgeous dresses Carla. The Phoebe is so much like you and the Louisa is a great new look. I was looking at the Louisa dress in green but the sizing is so difficult to figure out (at least for me).

The other dress is a gorgeous, beautiful, feminine wild card that's not quite a wild card (since the colours are your usual). What a great way to stretch your style! Love it on you.

Whoa! Love them both. Both of those were in my cart at times! The flowy style of the Louisa is stunning on you. And Phoebe is just a great every day dress. Are the sleeves on Phoebe very forgiving? If you have time, do you mind measuring the sleeve length and the width of the opening? I'd take a US8 in this too. The sleeve lengths provided on the Boden chart seem awful short--I wonder if they measure from the arm pit? Thanks! You look great!

I just ordered that Phoebe in a 6. The 8 was sold out. Do you happen to know your measurement around your shoulders?

Kellygirl - the sleeve length from under arm seam is 1 and 1/2 inch and from the top seam 7 inches.. It is 12 inches around the arm. my upper rm measures 11 and 1/2.).

Liz A - the Phoebe is 14 inches from seam to seam across the back of the shoulders. My bust measures 36 inches around, but my shoulders measure 42 (tape wrapped around upper arms and shoulders). The 8 is snug and the 100% cotton fabric does not stretch as much as the cotton/model blend of the Louisa.

Hope this helps. If I was ordering another Phoebe I would probably size up, but not in the Louisa. I swim and weight train and have always had shoulder fit issues. I usually wear a US 8, but have 6's and 10's in my closet as well.

Liz A - you may not have the return issues that I would have. Canadians order from the UK and though delivery is fast and free, returns are not.

Amy Isabella - I was going to order the green in BOTH, but they did not have them in my size when I ordered! I really do have a lot of blue in my closet and need to introduce some new colours!

Suz - you have the right of why I like the the Louisa. I am feeling a desire for 'pretty' but have to be careful because delicate or dainty doesn't really work for me.

I really love the Louisa in particular, Carla. Great color and length, and those sleeves really add interest. Can you tell me about sizing? I can relate to wanting some pretty without the dainty. I may try this one.
