Jeggings/Leans question - treat them like pants?

I am still searching for gray skinny cords and am coming across a few pair that are described as legging but have zippers and back pockets.

And these, not described as leggings but the faux pockets say legging to me- http://www.amazon.com/Sanctuar.....038;sr=1-1

I have stayed far away from any jegging/lean hybrid with horrible visions of pajama jeans in my head! Are they sturdy enough to stand alone as pants, or best used in legging fashion with a tunic to cover? I don't own many tunics so I would need to be able to wear them with shorter tops. Bad idea or a-okay? (I can't touch them in person so I'm depending on those of you who already own this type of item!)

Ok - I think those look too much like leggings. I figure if they describe them as leggings, then you need to take their word for it!

hmm I have a pair of gap jeggings, which I gather are similar to these, and I wear them to death. They are soooo comfortable but look like regular skinny jeans (I think). I tend to wear long-ish tops with them (not tunic length, but not belly button length either), but I tend to like longer tops for my body type in general, even with bootcut jeans. I think the fact that the cord fabric is light but thicker (visually) with the nap on it gives you a pass to wear them as pants--- plus, you have a banging body, so they should be forgiving on you. Just make sure to wear them in a "I'm an adult and love fashion" rather than a "I shop in the Juniors Dept" way.

Usually I'd wear them with something that at least partially covered my rear end, but I think they don't look too bad here. As long as the fabric is substantial, I think you can just wear them as regular pants.

Elly, you crack me up! I'm thinking they would be a nice foil for my red and deep purples and blues for the F/W. I am not as interested in pairing those jewel tones with basic black anymore . . .

Rita, thanks for the pics - do they feel the same as regular skinnies? I'm imagining that they would be thinner and / or stretchier than typical 2% stretch denim or cotton.

I am with bran888 and Elly on this...you could get away with those as pants M.y R&S Jeggings are worn as pants ...it is all about the fabric:)

The VS ones look like regular pants to me from the pictures... I kinda want to try those now!

Just to give you another option, I love my J. Crew Matchstick cords. I think they are supposed to be a straight leg, but they look like skinnies on me. They also have the skinnier Toothpick fit. I sized up to size 27S, but I'd get regular length if I wanted to wear with non-pumps. I know they are more $$, but they are most definitely pants.

I have 3 pairs of jeggings. They vary a lot. I have the same ones in black in 4P, I had to size up to 8P in the red.

Mo I have a pair of denim leggings (dislike the term jegging....) that I wear as skinnies, either with longer tops or tunics (as seen here). The back pockets on my pair are real, front pockets faux; fabric is fairly stretchy and somewhat thin, but still a substantial weave so I am comfortable in treating them as pants. I think that first pair you linked looks like a very skinny cord but the amount of stretch will probably determine whether they end up looking like pants vs. leggings. The JCrew cords might be a better option for you.

I am a huge fan of these although most people feel it should be balanced by a crotch/ rear covering top of some sort to balance the look out. most of mine have substantial weight tot he fabric but the silhouette is slimmer.

Hmm, I'd say for you the first pair could be worn as pants, but the second pair is questionble...

Here are my rules for "is it leggings, or is it pants?":
Does it have a real waistband (i.e. zipper and button) and NO elastic?
Does it have real pockets?
Does it have real seams?
Does it decently hide parts of your anatomy that should not be seen in public?

For me, the answer to all the above questions has to be YES for them to be pants. On me, a lot of things that pass the first 3 tests fail the last one because I am quite curvy on the bottom, but on you, who have a nice slim statuesque figure, I think they would be perfectly decent.

thanks for all the helpful insight on your leans!! I decided I would try a bargain pair to see what I think. They have a zipper, button, and back pockets, but faux front pockets (I don't know why that's the one place they 'cheat'). http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.....73038378-2 I got both colors in 2 sizes so one of them has to be a winner lol! And for once, this is a store actually within 3 miles of me, should I need to return - yay.
