jeans to a party?

Just received an invitation to a party that says dress-"party casual". I am thinking nice black jeans (mine do not fit since I lost weight) and I do have some dressy sweaters. I also have new black straight leg dressier pants. I am looking for nice black straight leg or bootcut black jeans, but not having any luck. Do not want to pay too much as I have lost a lot f weight since the surgery and complications. I am now on the mend and putting on some of the weight. Do not want to spend a lot now as things may not fit in a few months. But I do have to get thru this holiday season. Any ideas of "party casual"?

I've been wearing my glitzy Versace-esque jeans for parties - see Find - and adding dressy tops and topper. Cream boots and pearls.

Dressing up black/dark blue jeans with a dressy top/sweater and shoes/bag is a slam dunk easy way to do party casual. Add the bling.

You can also do velvet pants and a pullover/blouse.

I would absolutely be comfortable wearing jeans to a "party casual" invite. A dressy top and shoes, perhaps a necklace with some sparkle and all is good. For some smart casual parties I will be wearing jeans and a velvet top, either with a scarf or necklace (or both).

I would think that black jeans ,a nice top and some pretty shoes would definitely do the trick.Sparkle is always festive,if you haven’t got any in your clothes ,nail varnish ,jewellery and scarves can all add this with out spending too much money.

Dark wash jeans would totally work for party casual, dressed up with a dressy blouse or sweater, heels, and a clutch.

My weight has been fluctuating a lot lately so I have also not been inclined to spend a lot of $ either. I have had good luck at Old Navy for jeans. I like the rockstar's -- they are stretchy and forgiving and don't break the bank. I've got a pair of high waisted black rockstars that are amazing, but I think they are skinnies, not straight or bootcut. Still, may be worth checking out.

I'd wear dark wash jeans, my black cashmere sweater, and black booties.

Yes, dark jeans or black jeans are ideal. As Cardiffgirl says, they can be dressed up by not such costly additions.

I would wear my tuxedo jeans (which are dark blue wash denim with a black faux leather braid about 1.5-2inches wide down the side seams) or metallic shiny silver jeans or metallic gold with a bit of black in the weave. A dressy top with any of these and booties,

I've found nice black jeans at Target lately. They carry a wide range of sizes and cuts. Universal Thread is a label I think is new to them, and they seem to be pretty good quality, with nice dark black color.
