Jean skirt questions.

All of a sudden I have a nagging desire to purchase a jeans skirt. I have never owned one and have no clue why I think I need one for spring. So I have questions......

Am I too old (59) to wear one?
Are they even in style right now?
Do you have recommendations?

What? No! Of course you're not too old. Remember Karen, that client of Angie's? She had on a J Crew denim skirt last year. With a blazer, I think. It looked great. And she was in her seventies.

As for "in style": I think they always are.

No recommendations, though, as I'm not much of an online shopper.

ETA nothing sexier than a mature woman in a denim skirt, heels and white shirt.

Me too! I was thinking of adding one for the spring. I actually do have one but it has a zipper in the front like a pair of jeans and it always feels that it is bulky there so I rarely wear it. I will follow this thread to see what some suggestions are. I am wondering about a pullup style

I have a denim skirt that I purchased from Tommy Hilfiger last year - I wear it quite a bit. I added a photo for you to see!

My only complaints:
- when I wear it with tights, it's like the two fabrics (skirt vs tights) are not compatible and I am always feeling like the skirt is riding. Something to consider if you live somewhere where tights under a denim skirt are a possibility!
- similar to what Glory mentioned - the zipper in the front adds bulk sometimes, and that's just where I don't need bulk.

I had a really cute pull-up/pull-on style a few years ago and I really liked it.

I think they are a great functional piece, I have a dark wash just above the knee with pencil skirt cut from Talbots many moons ago and a newer one (still many moons old) with more the the typical aline cut that is a little shorter from Old Navy. I would recommend both stores for options based on the quality and wear I have gotten from these.

I have a denim pencil skirt and I love it. I wore it all last summer and into the fall, especially on casual Fridays at work. No idea why I haven't been wearing it lately--it seems perfect with boots and tights. I definitely think they are a fun piece to have!

Another happy owner of two denim skirts -- two different washes. This year, I'm going for a soft chambray -- full with inverted pleats.

I'm your age, so hope I'm not too old! I got my NYDJ Andy cut skirt a year or two ago and really like it since it has quite a bit of stretch and is small enough at the waist. Their more current Emma cut is quite a bit straighter and doesn't fit me. (I find many, many skirts are too big at the waist for me.)

If I'm wearing tights and a skirt isn't lined, I just add a slip and that seems to solve the problem. I have an ancient taffeta slip, so cling is not an issue.

Definitely not too old. I have one that I mostly love, that I get compliments on. However I too have the bulky zipper problem. Somehow in jeans the zipper gets pulled flatter, but in a skirt it can kind of bunch up. So be aware when shopping!

I have two denim skirts and I love them! I like a pencil style in a stretch denim. I don't like the jeans style fly - I had a Gap skirt with that style, and it always rode up and looked strange. I think they are always in!

I have one on my list too! I don't think you are too old to wear one. I like these two from Boden, they have options that are a lovely blue without fading or distressing.

I'm thinking about getting the mini in the longer length once I'm finished with SYC. I also like Beth Ann's idea of a chambray skirt with inverted pleats, sounds fun!

I am close to your age and I just acquired another one. I think like jeans they are ageless but the distressed mini's best left to those with the gams for them!

I love them for warm weather travel as they are very versatile and comfy if you get the right one for you. Net a Porter has them so that's current enough for me.I think they are one of those items that can be really strong some seasons not so much others but is never completely out of the picture.

I bought the denim skirt from JCrew that Angie's client Karen was wearing in the blog post and it's great! I tired a few denim skirts - many of them are too short and some (like Not Your Daughter's Jeans Andi skirt) just did not feel right. I think the longer length on JCrew skirt is appropriate for all ages, and if you like pencil skirts, this is a nice variation on the style.

Am wearing one as I type!! Getting a denim skirt was one of the first suggestions made to me on YLF and often I have solved a wardrobe dilemma with wearing it.

I'd like to get a new one without a front zip too, as others have pointed out.
