JCrew skirt - which length?

I ordered this skirt in P and regular, to try out more of a midi length (which the regular is on me). I would want to wear it with boots in the fall/winter, as well, and I'm wondering which length you think it better on me. This is a quick attempt at how I might style it for the current weather. I know I should probably post with boots, but I don't have time at the moment!

1 - regular
2 - petite

ETA: #1 can always be hemmed to an in-between length, of course.

Wow - you look verrry smart in this! The whole outfit is very rich in color and texture.

Normally I prefer knee length, so I'd be tempted to vote Petite, but I'm leaning toward the Regular! Usually their skirts are 2" in difference between the two, so too bad we can't easily split the difference

If you went Regular, there might be little to no gap of skin between boot and hem. Do you like that better? With Petite, there would always be the knees exposed. Do you like that better?

Will there be any hose visible between the top of your boots and the hemline, even in regular? If so, I think #2 is the better choice. In general, I think a midi should be even more midi than this to work well. Very pretty skirt, by the way!

I vote keep the regular and hem it one inch shorter. Is that a option?

Unless you wear serious heels, those midi lengths are hard to pull off for we of shorter stature.

#1 is perfect length, just below the knee, and above the calf, i.e., it's hitting at a narrow part of your lower leg. And this skirt is tapered perfectly for that length. Plus longer hems are in. You can always shorten this when hem lines go up again.

There's something off about the length of #2 but can't be sure, it may be how you are standing. It seems to me that it may be a smidge too short for "at the knee"? Or perhaps it's because my eye is accustomed to seeing pencil skirts either below the knee, or above the knee, not at the knee.

I'm sort of ambivalent, and I'd like to see it with boots, but I think I like it better in #1. Partly because that way it's longer than the jacket (in #2 they look like matching proportions). Also like the taper at the bottom, as Shiny points out.

Ah, I see opinions are divided! I know I should post with boots - work is crazed right now, but I'll try later.

Suz, I find JCrew TTS. I wear a 4, and the 4R and 4P fit pretty similarly in the waist and hips.

The petite skirt looks too short in proportion to the jacket. I prefer the regular length. Love the tweed skirt--so pretty!

I prefer the regular length, but that might be because the jacket you're wearing it with is longer, too.

It seems my eye has adjusted to the midi look, because I definitely vote for the regular (longer) length, sarah. No question in my mind it's the more flattering, modern length.

I've eyed this skirt on the JCrew website for a few weeks now, so it's great to see it in action. Would love to see it with boots or booties later....

Woo, love the tweed and gingham!!! I would vote longer, but wouldn't want to say for sure without seeing the boots (and possibly tights?).

Another vote for #1! Great skirt. I find jcrew to be TTS but a bit more slim than some brands.

I vote #1 -- regular -- by a mile. It's already a great length, hitting you at a flattering spot on your leg. Material of that texture looks very nice in the more ladylike just-below-kneecap length. You look lovely in it.

Great skirt, by the way. I saw it and liked it on the website, and it's nice to see how fab it looks modeled by a, for lack of a better word, "real" woman. Not that paid models are not "real women", but well...you know. Most of us aren't six feet tall and a size two.
