JCrew pencil skirt sizing?

hi Ladies,

Does anyone know how JCrew skirts fit? I'm interested in ordering some petites, but am not sure which size to try. I wear a 4P in the Halogen...

I wavered between 0 and 2 in the Halogen and ended up with 2. I wavered between 2 and 4 in the #2 pencil and ended up with 2 again. The #2 pencil is bigger in the waist and smaller everywhere else.

Hi, CF - that's good to know. I am a rectangle with apple tendencies, so that actually sounds good to me (and means I have to size up a bit in the Halogen, because it's more pear fitted).

I'm not sure about their petite sizing, but I ordered my regular size in the Telegraph pencil skirt and it fits very well. Hope this helps.
Which colours are you trying, Sarah?-)

I tried on a number of skirts in store and found that 2-4-6 all fit depending on the style. In the pencil style, size 4 which is my regular size, fit well. I did get the paisley skirt in a size 2, the SA said that model ran a little larger than others. So I would go with your regular size, not necessarily the Halogen size (which to my understanding runs big).

ETA: the paisley skirt I'm referring to is the No. 2 Long, that's the one I got in a 2.

Thanks, Inge and Denise. I ordered the 2P and 4P, since 4P is my normal size (I wear my normal size in the Halogen, unlike everyone else, I think because of my lack of hips).

I ordered two that are on sale:

The feather paisley which I saw in the store and which is very pretty, with a little bit of orange in it, and the gardenshade floral, which was only available in 2P, so I hope you're right, Denise, and they run big!

Just my two cents: I wear my regular size in all variations of the J. Crew pencil. Interesting that the SA said that about the longer paisley one, Denise--on me it fits smaller than the other styles, because it's made to sit closer to the natural waist vs. a little lower.

Thanks, Jonesy. Yes, I'm beginning to think that with pencil skirts, it's all about the waist/hip ratio and where the skirt sits, and everyone is a bit different...

I find they run very true to size, and that J Crew is great for rectangles. I am a big fan of their pencil skirts!
