JCrew batik tunic dress...bright color ahead! UPDATE: smaller size

I'm such a neutral girl most of the time I thought I'd shake things up with a bright tunic dress. This just arrived over the weekend, and I'm thinking it's a go. We have a poolside party to attend this coming Sat and I wanted something casual, bright, and fun.

What do you think?

UPDATE: Wise Rae noticed that the dress might be a little loose, then Angie chimed in and said she wouldn't mind seeing the smaller size out of curiosity. So, I tried on the 4 again and now I'm thinking it really is a better fit than the 6.

I'm thinking the smaller size is actually better. It's still loose but just a little closer to the body and more flattering. Opinions?

I think it's perfect for the pool party and perfect on you! (I tried it in store, but JCrew does *not* cater to us pears Pretty color, flattering shift fit.

I hope you keep it and have fun wearing it!

I could also see it over cropped leggings for cooler spring weather, but not sure how dramatic black leggings might look with such a fun color . . .

This is crazy good! I'll bet you will be the only one in a dress like this at your party. It looks kinda 60's. I remember watching Apollo 13, and the wives of the astronauts were out by the pool (in Florida) and wearing things like this. Very chic!

Claire...it does feel very 60's mod retro...a different look for me.

Rae, I am debating on the size a little myself. This is the size 6, but I also ordered a size 4. I tried the 4 on first and thought it felt a little small, but now I'm thinking I should try it on again and post a comparison photo just to be sure....

I was going to suggest a size down at first, and part of me is still curious to see how that fits! But it's a linen dress, and linen should not be tight, so lets stick with this one

Oh, this smaller size takes it up another couple notches! It was cute and summery and kaftan-like, now it's much more summer tunic dress.

In that it's linen, can you sit without any lap tightness problems? If so, I vote smaller

As long as the fit is still breezy and comfortable (it looks that way, but does it pass the sit test?) I like the 4 better. Wishing the 4 had just a bit more length, but girlfriend you have some great legs and should show them off!

Christy and Sara, I can sit comfortably without any significant pulling in the smaller size so I'm ok there.

I like the smaller size better. If you are comfortable in it, go for it. ;o) Because, of course, my opinion is all that matters...

The smaller size is perfect. The first one had too much unnecessary fabric at the sides. Stunning!
