JCrew - A few questions about final sale

I've been stalking the denim pencil skirt at JCrew for the past few months and today it was marked down to $30. I've been meaning to head over to the mall and try the skirt on but never got around to it. I am fairly sure size 8 regular will work well for me.

I have very little shopping experience with JCrew so what I am really wondering is if it is worth paying the $10 in shipping and taxes extra for a final sale item that I may or may not have to alter. If it is going to be OOS by the time I wake up tomorrow morning I'll bite the bullet but is there any chance I will have enough time to head to the store and find it on final sale there?

Vani, there is a chance that you might find it in the store, and there is also a chance that it will still be available online in the morning. But it is definitely a risk, especially with a common size. Sorry I can't be of more help, but my experience with J. Crew final sale has been that you win some, you lose some in terms of availability. Sometimes there are things I love and think are cute and they sit on final sale for weeks, but other times, gone in hours. Additionally, at times I have found things in the store that were not marked down to final sale, even though they are final sale on the website.

Thanks so much for the insight Steph. All things considered I'm just going to bite the bullet and order it. I've waited too long for it to go on sale and I really do need a denim skirt.

I agree with Steph, and I am glad that you decided to order.
Usually with finale sale the sizes are extremely limited...if it is on the website , it likely sold out in the store and vice versa.

Vani, order some other things with it (not on final sale) and then return them the next time you go the the mall. This is what I do when I need to buy $100 to get free shipping. And I don't feel too bad about it because sometimes I end up loving the thing I put in my cart to put me over the $100 minimum and keeping it anyway... this may or may not have happened with my JCrew order that arrived today!

Kate, I looked and looked but their free shipping with $100 offer was offered only until a few days ago. I guess they don't like to offer in tandem with new final sale markdowns . I'm justifying the extra cost in the name of summer basics and wardrobe holes Do we have a yay or nay post coming up?

Vani, be sure to google the name of the online establishment and "coupon" or "free shipping" whenever you're shopping online. I can't remember the last time I've had to pay shipping and occasionally I'll stumble on something great like 20% off. Try AYC93K for free J. Auburn, I googled a lot but didn't find any codes. If only I hadn't checked out last night! Thanks much for the code though. Maybe DH has something he would like to order. He was a little out of out because of allergies last night when I placed the order.

Good grief, the skirt is still on sale, available in all sizes and the free shipping for over $100 offer is on offer again. Oh well....
