I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to look and/or comment on my posts during this challenge. Your insights and feedback was helpful and made me see many of my outfits thru new eyes.
I started my Jan challenge (to not repeat an outfit and to post my outfits each day) because I was feeling in a fashion rut. And because I wanted to slow my shopping, especially as I added quite a bit in Dec as the sales were really good, and I knew that Jan would bring even more discounts
So what did I learn…
My hybrid work schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 at home, has really shifted what I wear. I am much more comfortable wearing and rewearing the same couple of pieces when I’m WFH. I crave comfort more, and anything that needs footwear or other accessories to complete the outfit, will not be worn at home.
My over all fashion satisfaction when I am out and about is pretty good, but does require attention and planning. During stressful times, I tend to lean heavily on FFBOs, which is fine. But in the end, doesn’t make me feel my best, so I must remind myself to stretch that fashion muscle. And just as you need to plan time to stretch your other muscles, I must plan time in my schedule to plan and pull together what I want to wear
What’s next
As I worked thru this challenge it was clear to me that I own and wear a lot of clothing, but in the past couple of years it’s become less and less organized and I spend more time looking for things. So….I’m turning 60 this summer, and I’m gifting myself a professional organizer to design and set up a closet/storage system. I’ve had my 1st meeting with her, and have booked 5 dates thru May with her to get this project done.
Looking forward to spring
Ok, so yes, I’m still looking thinking about and looking at what I want to add. But I want to be much more selective and much more prescriptive to what and how I go forward. So, on my radar for spring white trouser jeans, cargos/parachute pants, a lightweight bomber, ballet flats, a denim bag. My goal is to not settle, but not to stress over finding the perfect X, as for me that’s a trigger to enter the buy, try, return cycle. I need to work through this and figure out the right balance.
If your still reading thanks. If you have anything you’d like to add or share, all comments are welcome
