James Perse jacket, olive

This is a James Perse double breasted knit jacket (a sweatshirty fabric) in olive, size 2 (the brand has its own size system so 2 is not like US 2). Usually I wear a US 4 or 6. Angie has mentioned this runs a bit small. I would not likely wear it closed but include a photo of this to show the fit. Also I would probably be wearing it with jeans and here I've just thrown it on over the ootd.

So what do you think? Keep? Size up? Just send back?

I like it. I wouldn't wear it closed either . I see it working for both casual and dressier looks - this is a cool piece ! And I agree their sizing is completely random.

I like it, too. Would wear like you said, but also maybe with dressier pants. It's kind of a fun juxtaposition to have the sharp military styling in a knit fabric.

I like it too. I don't see any reason to size up. You're not going to wear it buttoned, and I think a larger size would swamp you when left open. It's a keep for me.

Yes, I like this and I like the fitted look. As long as it's comfy I wouldn't size up. It looks great on you.

I have been thinking about this as well but my size is sold out. (same as yours) Maybe it will come back in. Then we can be jacket twins.

Keep. For a knit jacket, it looks like it has structure, knit jackets are such a great idea. They work well when a traditional blazer may look too stuffy.

Agree that the size you are showing looks good, I don't think you need to size up. I wear similar sizes to you and I only found the JP black jacket in a 3 so I tried it out but it was way too big on me.

Looks nice on you; agree with others that open is best. Usually like jackets better opened and there is something about how low the bottom buttons are placed that reinforces that preference.

Looks great! That's exactly the way the size 2 fit on me as well. It's a sharp jacket with great tailoring, especially for a knit.

Since it's quite fitted and unlined, it seems that it would be hard to pull on over a knitted top, particularly if it's long sleeved. Did you find that to be the case?

Beth, I would likely not wear another knit underneath it, but probably a woven top. I have kind of a thing about texture mixing. However just for the heck of it I put it on over a long sleeve t shirt and it seemed fine. I guess it depends how you plan to wear it. For me it would be an outdoor piece maybe into October, but otherwise for indoor use.

I think it looks fabulous on you.
I like juxtaposing a jacket like this with pencil skirt when a blazer looks too corporate. Also a knit is often less overwhelming at shoulders, and fun over a dress when a leather jacket might be too heavy.

I would love to try this one but was flummoxed by the colors. Was trying to to stay away from black jackets though it would for sure go with things, and also I think the details show up better in the olive, in your pic anyway. But probably I can't use it enough in the olive.

Oh, I really like it. Can you describe this color to me, Lisa? On you it looks more olive green than in the Nordstrom picture, where it looks more olive brown -- if you know what I mean. Does the olive lean more toward blue/cool or yellow/warm?

It's more on the brown/ yellow side, Viv. I would have preferred a cooler one because it would go with more things. It looks good with burgundy (there was a madewell silk dotted blouse in the sale that I tried it with.)

It looks fab with your coloring, though. And the fit is great, would not size up!
