So now with autumn coming along and being in Canada, I'm looking to toppers. I know a lady in her 80's that always looks fab and it's because of the jackets she wears! (among other things of course, but I always notice them!)

So, what is fashion forward these days with regard to these, if I decide to take a look for something new?

Hmm I'm not good with the latest, but what I've noticed is straighter or boxier cuts to accommodate the more relaxed silhouette that's dominating right now.

I always love the look of a strong colour over a neutral outfit, or a classic print like glenplaid, but that's just me!

I think you just caught the end of oversized and the Fall jackets are likely to have strong shoulders and nipped in waists. So I would head towards that silhouette as likely having some legs. I think Angie posted some outfits with new jackets that fit that description.

I think that the best way to find what is current is to check Jacket sections of your preferred brands. This way the new styles would work better with the rest of your wardrobe. What is fashion forward might be different from brand to brand especially considering the customer target group.

Someone needed a generous coat recently, and many people mentioned trapeze or swing coats. With their large, simple shape, they can really make a statement.

I also really like actual boy clothes, whether a skater hoodie or a plaid flannel.

I’m not a fan, but coats/jackets made with fabric that looks like a teddy bear’s fur seems current.

My style is more classic, but I do have a variety of toppers for cooler weather and layering for winter. Below are my toppers - a stretch blazer (it has a zip out Dickey), a jean jacket, a Safari style field coat, and two light weight puffers. They are all pretty casual, and some are pretty old, but I’m retired, with a casual lifestyle.
