Jacket/ coat - keep or not. - YouLookFab Forum

I like it but Jon doesn't particularly. It is a good weight for our climate but has some disadvantages as it is not long and yet not quite an indoor coat..... I would wear it indoors for some things though.

But what I will need for our upcoming winter is a big unknown right now.

I like it tied best. The sleeve length seems a bit awkward on you. In the model photo the sleeves look shorter, but she probably has really long arms. What do you think?

I like it. You have the height to carry it off and the coat looks designer on you but I understand how a short winter coat could pose a problem. They are best for women who drive or are driven and don’t walk much in the weather.

I have loved you in every look I have seen in my short time on this forum. If I may say so without being unkind, I am not as sold on this one. It might be because to my eye it is a bit 'off' with the long, straight leg of the jean. I see that jacket with a column of navy or black, or cream underneath -- maybe a culotte or crop with a boot -- something a bit flowy -- because of how boxy the jacket is and where the jacket ends. One woman's opinion, though, so do take it with a grain of salt!!!

I agree the model has long arms - I am 5ft 8.5 so on the taller side with long arms myself.

Thanks Joy and Carol. I am on the fence myself - my friend is a big online shopper and purchased this on final sale from Australia. She is a lot shorter and also has narrower shoulders so it is overwhelming on her. But would I have bought it myself - I am not sure.

May I suggest a little outfit creation session to assess how it plays with the rest of your Autumn and Winter items. Does it match your tall cognac boots? Could be fab over wide-crops.

I really like the cut but an outfit creation session is what the doctor ordered. (Gallows humour seems somehow appropriate.)

Absolutely gallows humour is appropriate - I posted because sometimes distraction is a good thing.... I will do an outfit creation session with my new work capsule. I will be a well dressed person working from home!!

I really like it on you too. I do understand though when my DH does not like something on me, I never feel FAB in it and with a coat purchase I think you would want to feel fab. Maybe he will warm to it...

Sal, items look different in 3D than in a picture....is there a reason Jon does not like the coat? It looks great on you in these pictures however he may see something that we do not. I understand the question around practicality. I recently culled a jacket with 3/4 sleeves because it makes no sense in our climate. My exposed arms felt too cold when the jacket was seasonally appropriate. It looked silly with long sleeved layers peeking out underneath. Long, color coordinated gloves improved its practicality, but not enough to justify a place in my wardrobe.

I'm not sure about it. I think it depends on how you would wear it and how much effort you want to make. If you want it to be a quick throw-on-and-go then I'm not sure that works. It is a great color though and I personally like the bracelet sleeves, but it does seem like an awkward length overall.

I quite like it, as long as it's not too fussy for you! But if you're on the fence, that seems like a lot to spend on someone else's mistake (even a friend's).

You could wear it as an indoor topper, under a warmer outer layer, if needed, but agree that an outfit lab is in order! I DO love the color on you, and I think the fit is fun and different from other pieces I have seen you wear.

If you are on the fence even after trying it, I say let it go and focus on finding the coat you had on your wishlist earlier.

Looks great and current with the belt. I guess it would depend on how much you think you would wear it and what else you have in your wardrobe to make it worth getting.

I personally like it on you.Love Suz's idea of trying it with wide leg pants or cullotes. Not a very original but for a glam look I would wear it with a pencil skirt.

I think it looks rather boxy and the sleeve length is awkward. I have had some 3/4 sleeved jackets in the past and found the same as Staysfit- too cold for winter, and looking a bit odd with long sleeves under. I DO have one current winter jacket like that which I just put up with the sleeve length because I love the jacket- my cropped navy merino Sabatini jacket which was only $25 on sale so for that price I decided to cope with the problem and have worn it 31 times.
Outfit lab sounds a good idea.

I really like it on you and even the sleeve length looks fine, and if you want it shorter it would be an easy alteration. But, at the end of the day you have to feel fab in it, if there is a shred of doubt then don't keep it.
