Jacket - Is it Gorgeous or a flash from the past...

I saw this jacket on JCrew and am really drawn to it. I had a similar jacket in cobalt with black tips a few years ago and am not sure why I donated it.

I've tried it on and LOVED it. Inge bought the navy and is *smitten*. Plus it looks amazingly killer on her. A true classic with a big dose of modern. My best

Warning: It's quite bulky. I enjoy a bulky coat look so that did not bother me.

Actually I preferred Inge's navy to the cream in this style - and you know how much I love cream.

Oh! UPDATE: And Inge's coat is tipped with navy leather I think. So they changed the style half way through the season.

I think it's as cool as you think it is! I find it difficult to visualise this jacket in navy as Angie mentioned, but I also know that leather/satin tipped jackets and blazer's are all the rage right now!

I tried the solid version of this jacket on (in navy) at my local J. Crew on Friday. I *loved* it. My old, old winter coat needs replacing and I think this will be the one I will get. I saw the cream tipped jacket you linked to there as well. It was very nice too.

Here is the leather trimmed jacket I think Inge may have purchased. I love this one too!

Angie - Thanks for raving about "my" coat, I am SO happy with this latest addition to my small Winter coat capsule!

Dianthus - Angie is spot on with her description. I'll add my two cents: I don't think the B&W is too theatrical at all, striking and beautiful, yes! To me this coat has a classic silhouette that we'll be able to wear for many years, and J.Crew has updated it with modern touches, so no flash from the past at all. I feel spunky, modern, chic and elegant each time I wear mine:-)

I saw the B&W version first and was really contemplating getting that for myself too. After much debate I decided I would rather have a knee-length wool Winter white coat instead (but that's just what I think is best for my own wardrobe, I still love the short B&W coat). And then I came across the navy version with the leather tipping, and I was completely smitten with it. It's a beautiful quality coat, 100% wool, so nice and cosy, and the design details are fantastic.
