I did a K/R on some J Crew jeans
here. I was surprised that their denim now fits me! I took that pair to Spain and they were a great part of the capsule - held their shape, not too constricting, added a trendy note to my outfits. I think some others on the forum were surprised too, and reconsidering JC as a result.
Around that time, I realized I really wanted to differentiate my casual wardrobe from my work wardrobe, and replenish my long sleeved tee capsule in the process. I was craving trendier, slightly RATE jeans, and the brightly colored stripes that are all over the place this season. The good news is that except for a couple of things, my work week wardrobe is in great shape and is relatively tight, by my ridiculously non-right standards, aside from a couple of small holes. It's a good time to fill in casual wear, while the current trends appeal.
Since I have clearly failed at shopping my closet* (Black Friday week sales were always going to be my downfall), I figured I'd share another pair I got from J Crew. Obviously, these are longer on me than on the model. They're also comfy enough that I can wear them to my family's uber-casual Thanksgiving, if I choose. This can replace a pair I have in a similar wash that was never comfortable around my belly, and that's been in the holding zone as a result. I also like this oversized tee that I tried on with it, as it's in line with my current vision of my casual style (oddly, much more cohesive than my work style... that's a whole post in and of itself.) Anyway, I feel like I'm on a strong footing for winter now, since my casual needs are less than my work needs.
*Shopping my closet is not a total fail, as I've actually identified two small work wardrobe holes Trying to fill these needs via Boden. I've also been able to cull some pieces and to realize a piece I hadn't been sure about really works for me better than I'd recalled. Trying to wear these neglected pieces and decide on them has been a ongoing project of mine.
