So, I think a couple of you might have this top ( http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Brows...../95001.jsp )...and I was hoping you would do me a super huge favor

Could you measure the width of the pleat/ruffle thing along the neck?

I'm thinking about adding a detail similar to that to a dress I'm making, and since I love how the collar looks in the picture of the model wearing it, I thought I could recreate it. Thanks in advance

Hi Shell,

It's 3" and the center band is about 1 7/8".

Here are some more detailed photos of the fringe to help you recreate it:

Each side of the ruffle looks like one long "ribbon" of fabric that is pleated into a sort of zig zag shape. Then the center banding holds the two pieces. As you can see, the pleats don't line up, so it's not one large piece:

No problem!

Are you going to make a template for the pleats, you think? I could measure how wide across they are if you wanted.

ana, i suppose that would be helpful too i dont want to make you do too much work though! could you perhaps just measure the width of the widest pleat? looks like all the other ones are just about half of the big one.

im working on the muslin/"practice version" of my wedding dress. i'm hoping to make halter straps out of these pleats - i thought it would add a little flair to any overall simple dress. i'm not the most skilled at some of the complex details, so i really do appreciate all your help.
