Elpgal, I've pretty much given up on cashmere, and that includes men's sweaters (DH loves cashmere and I have not been able to find any lately for him either). It's all so thin, not like cashmere of days gone by...
I'm all about merino these days instead! I really like the Lord & Taylor house brand merino.
That said the last nice cashmere sweater I bought was a few years ago and it was Vince brand. I haven't tried since, so it could be a bad recommendation, but I'm throwing that out there. I have a Vince cashmere sweater that is still going strong, though I am not wearing it much lately since I gained weight. I have taken that sweater on countless travel trips, it's gotten quite the treatment in the bottom of my carry on or bunched up in a backpack or handbag or tied around the waist... and still looks great... just doesn't fit as well these days!
Still, even that sweater is NOTHING like the quality of a cashmere sweater I bought 15 years ago from Banana Republic! I still remember that sweater, even though it has long been donated as I grew out of it. I wore it for years. It had a ballet neckline and was kind of cropped length "skirt length" high hip, went well with high waisted midi skirts that were the fashion back then and are once again the fashion. OMG. That sweater was so thick and awesome and warm! I imagine someone found that in the thrift store and is still wearing and enjoying it today.
