I've tried the Ecco booties on - not sure about them (alternatives?)

When I was hunting for a coat this afternoon I had a look at the shoe departement and found the Ecco booties I asked about in an earlier thread. They didn't have them in black, only in brown, but I could try them on for size.

I really liked the way they looked with the skirt I was wearing and they were comfortable in a size 38. Fairly narrow, but not too tight and I think they would give a bit. But I think I would have a hard time wearing warm socks in these booties and I think I'd want that. When I tried them on I only wore two thin tights layered over each other. The 39 was definitely too big, not much wider but much too long. So in the end these would be more fall shoes than winter shoes and I'm not sure if I should buy them because of this. I really need some warm shoes/booties/boots for winter!

An alternative to try would be #2/3, these are Clarks with Gore-Tex. Or maybe the Clarks boots in #4 (also Gore-Tex), I wanted to try them and haven't done it yet.

Well, if you can get just one pair of booties and they need to be warm, why not try the Clark's? I like pair #2

The Clarks are good looking, but since they are slightly more rugged, they probably wouldn't look quite as nice with skirts, but it is hard to say until you have tried it. But basically, I agree with Kirti.

Thanks Kirti and Donna! Too bad that #2/3 won't be an option after all - I just had another look and the soles look like they would be hell on ice.

Can you go back and try the same size and one size up in your typical winter socks? I do like the look of the boots in picture 1 best. On icy days I don't care about appearance and wear hiking boots.

Thanks Heleen. Yes, I can do that. Allthough I don't think it would change much, since the bigger size wasnt wider, only longer. I also wear my hiking boots when it's really bad, but I want to avoid it as much as possible.

My favorite is number one. Then again, I'm struggling with boots myself, so I'm no expert. They do look like they are nicely fitted around the ankle?

Thanks Jem. Yes, they are fairly fitted, although there's still a bit of a gap. But they were the most fitted from the similar ones in the store I tried on. I guess I could try them with socks to see how it works. I really liked the style, I imagine the black ones look great. I'd have to order them online then.

I just love the looks of 1! Seems like a versatile and great style.....might have to check those out for Mwha! Ecco is such a great and comfortable shoe!

The others are nice, too, but much more casual and not sure how they would look with a dress or skirt.
