Thanks, girl! I don't care where I find stuff- like Angie says ' leave no retail stone unturned' Thanks for the advice!

I agree with Linda and others that you may be able to find a very simple top for the skirt and let it be the star--a simple jewel neck top; the tank and cardi--with a necklace. Shoes very simple flats, pantyhose if that gives you a more polished look--I rely on them to add some "formality" to simpler shoes--no need for fancy shoes or heels.
If nothing turns up in SYC I would definitely try thrift shop, TJ Maxx, Ross for something under $20 for sure.

For the wedding, do you have a clutch you can use? I have a few that could work with a black skirt. I have frequently sent a bag to my sister for her to borrow for an event. I would be happy to do so for you too.

Biscuitsmom - I think you have great advice on the wedding attire. I don't know the agility natl's (I show breed and obedience) but my BFF and her hubby show agility and he has a MACH to his credit. Dog show track suits and embroidered clothing seem to be the usual with jeans/and embroidered fleece coming in a close second for exhibitors. But if you want to impress do you have a nice blazer? A nice pair of ponte pants, comfy shoes plus the blazer should do great. What would an agility judge wear? Plus, you can never go wrong with your dog jewelry, front and center, that can pretty much carry the outfit. Good luck and hope you have a great time!!

Do you have a top in your closet that would make one of those wonderful scarves of yours stand up to be the central focus? There are some really cool bib type ties or if you have a gigantic scarf a vest like AJ made some years ago... They can also be made into a halter or cross type top. If you don't take your jacket off and even if you add elastic to the ends around the waist nobody will know.

I agree with unfrumped too, that perhaps a trip to TJ Maxx and a thrift store are in order. It can be hard to shop when you're under the gun. This way, if you buy something that you're not sure of for the long term, you haven't invested a lot of dough.

The skirt sounds lovely and I agree with the others to let it be the star. If you have some jewellery a very plain top could be just perfect. I would probably stick to a black top and wear "bling" to liven it up as I think a black column can be more flattering to an apple shape.

With the "meeting your idol" I am sure she will be more interested in what you have in common than what you are wearing. It sounds like you are covered here in your own wardrobe.

For both occasions I think a lovely hairstyle, a small amount of makeup and a lovely smile is the most important thing.

The skirt sounds amazing & I agree with the others - keep it as the focus of your outfit. What about pairing it with a silky tee in a nice fluid fit?
I like gryffin's ideas for the meeting.

You totally have the right to ask for help and you should go out. Just take a deep breath.

I like the ideas the others have given for what to wear to the wedding. I know if can feel like a long shot, but have you tried looking on pinterest to see what people have put with a skirt similar to yours?

I love the idea of a black velvet skirt for a wedding. Going for a top that's simple but a little unique and fancy seems the key to me. Here is a polyvore of lacy tops and statement necklaces. I've seen tops similar to this at TJMaxx and Marshall's for $20 or under, or clearance at any dept. store. If you already have a great necklace, pick a pastel silky fabric to match if you can.

Have a great time meeting your idol at the dog show - you will shine due to your excitement - just pick something you are confident wearing, a tried and true from your closet and you'll be good to go.
