The blog post goes out tomorrow morning but I'll be tweeting about what I see on the red carpet during the day. I'm excited!

Does anyone else love watching the Oscars? I love seeing the gowns but I also enjoy hearing who won what. We're movie nuts so it's always interesting. How about you?

This is one of the biggest nights of the year for me I call it the Superbowl of Fashion. (That way the men in my family can relate). I also make it very very clear that the TV is mine for the evening and mommy is NOT to be interrupted for anything less than a life-threatening emergency!

I am completely taken with that young Aussie actress with the pixie cut who's starring in Alice in Wonderland -- Mia something -- and wonder if she will be there. Same with Cate Blanchette. Who else is everyone looking forward to seeing?

Even though I can't observe the fashion, I love watching the oscars. I have a pool with five other friends and it's always fun to keep track of that. This year I'm also a little more psyched than usual because the choice of host(s) is inspired. I've come to adore Alec Baldwin thanks to 30 Rock, and anyone who's seen Baldwin and Steve Martin interact (in that show, It's Complicated or anywhere else) knows they've got chemistry. So bring it on! Hopefully I'll have the energy to make it through to the end.

Laura, I like to see all the A-listers and of course, Cate walks on water in my world so she can do no wrong. I hope that she is there! I like to see the older lasses and young hollywood as well. And I LOVE to see the men in their outfits too. It's just such a glorious night of fashion and personality!I must amke to one of those in a Chanel gown when you wear your Valentino gown.

It is exciting indeed!

We are hosting out 8th annual red carpet party today. We get together with friends, all get dressed for red carpet, project the show and enjoy a sip of champagne.

I'm hosting so can't always see all the outfits while greeting, serving, etc. I'm looking forward to your review tomorrow, Angie!

I'll definitely be watching. As a former actress, lover of all things movie-related, and resident of Los Angeles, the Oscars are always a special day for me. Besides composing my own acceptance speech in my head, it allows me to image what I would wear if I suddenly lived in some alternate universe where that was even a possibility. Would I wear a gown? Or would I do something different, like a (feminine) Victoria-inspired tuxedo jacket, pants, heels and diamonds? FUN! One can always dream ...

Can't watch due to Cablevision and ABC's dispute. I honestly don't know why I always watch, since I don't care all that much about the clothes or the usually mediocre movies that are nominated...but something must intrigue me because I usually do.

Having been TV less for so long, I hardly even think about award shows anymore. I do enjoy seeing the pictures of what everyone wore, though.
We were busy hosting DS's birthday party today, and now I am exhausted. (We took 6 teenagers, SIL's family, and two little sisters to the movies)

I'm watching the preshow for the Oscars right now. So far I've been impressed with how beautiful Meryl Streep looks and loved Morgan Freeman's daughter's navy dress. I didn't care for Miley Cyrus's look, at least from the waist up it seemed too mature for her.
I've no idea how to get into tweeting. Is it something you can do with the computer or is it done with a phone?

okay, I think I have to say my favorite of the night was Sandra Bullock. Her hair could not have been any more beautiful and her dress was stunning.
Also loved Vera Farmiga in the red ruffly dress. It was gorgeous!

I was out most of the day and didn't watch. I admit, I have fallen off the movie wagon since kids and I am way behind on new releases. I am looking forward to the Oscar post though, now off to look at pictures and read the tweets
I love Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock, so I wish I could see him doing the mc thing.

I'm normally pretty blase about the Oscars because I don't consider these awards the best indicator of artistic excellence. And yet I'm SO glad about Kathryn Bigelow and The Hurt Locker. Yeah!!! I hope this gives the film even more publicity. I was cautiously optimistic, but I didn't expect to be this excited.

Can't wait for the fashion post next week!

The Oscars were fabulous as ever. Alec Baldwin was the best host ever. You'll have to hear about my fashion wrap up tomorrow so no cats out their bags yet :0)

Love that Sandra Bullock won. Really wanted Christopher Plummer and Avator to win. I saw the hurt locker and agree it was a brilliant movie - but it didnt grab me as best picture. I was all for Avatar!

I agree about Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin being brilliant hosts. Today on the morning shows I have already heard tons of criticism -- they're saying it was a dull show. What? These critics can never be happy.

Everyone looked stunning. Really. There weren't too many misses in my humble opinion.

I watched the Oscars for the first time last night. We don't have TV (aside from PBS), so I've never had the opportunity, but we went to a party last night. It was great. We all dressed up in suits/dresses. I wish I were on the west coast, though. I was too tired to stay up to see the end.

Loved Kate Winslet the best!

Edit: I really thought that the Hurt Locker should have/was going to win. I loved it. I think the two things it had in its favor were the Director (first woman ever to win best Director), and the fact that the actors were all relatively unknown (except for some bit parts). The Academy loves that kind of stuff.

The Oscars aren't televised here (it would be in the middle of the night, so there's really no point), so I didn't get to watch. Growing up I watched every year with my Mum and sister- we'd even do a "ballot" to see who could guess where the gongs were going. These days I still check results and fashion first thing the day after, and have already been emailing with my best friend and sister about our thoughts.

I'm not surprised by The Hurt Locker's win- awards shows are so political these days that I'd have been shocked if it hadn't. I was super happy for Kathryn Bigelow, but devastated for Christopher Plummer- I love him and SO wanted him to finally get his Oscar!

As for the red carpet, I have so much to say (most of it mean) that I'm not going to unleash it here. It wouldn't be fair to all of you! Overall, I thought it was a very uninspiring year, fashion-wise.

I know this post is several days old but I didn't have a chance to comment earlier so I thought I would revive it just so I could add my comments. I thought it was a fun oscar show.

I could have done without NPH's dance number - no one does that like Hugh Jackman!

I thought Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin were hilarious and actually wish that we saw more of them. Their skit mocking Paranormal Activity was hilarious!!

Though I am sad for Christopher Plummer, it was a well deserved win for Christopher Waltz. For those of you who haven't seen Inglorious Basterds, rent it! It will surprise you (it surprised me). Christopher Waltz was brilliant in his role as Hans Landa - so charming, polite & cultured and yet so brutal, cunning & opportunistic.

I was also so happy for the two wins for "Up." I highly recommend it for those of you who were not forced to watch it with your kids! We went to see it last summer for my birthday with both the kids and let me tell you, the story sequence in the first 10 minutes of the movie had both me and my husband crying!

Lots of great fashion but it felt like everyone played it safe this year. It kind of had me longing for a Cher or a Bjork or my personal favorite, Tilda Swinton just to liven things up a little!
