is that even legal...LOL....i work in a new(ish) building, supposedly built to LEED certification, ie its supposed to be the highest rating of energy and resource-efficient buildings. but we are way over cooling the building, and i need to bring a jacket and/or wool scarf/shawl everyday, no matter how hot it is outside
I hear you. My studio is in a 100+ year old building, and up on a high floor, so even though we have AC, it’s hard to make the space cool, especially if you want to leave your door open. Thank goodness at least I get to control my floor’s thermostat!
Try a bakery when you’ve got giant ovens cranking! Even at night, in summer, with high ceilings... but then in winter, those ovens do nothing: we don’t need a fridge :p
I’m usually cold at work. I have a heater at my feet and love it. That being said, it is amazing how having bare arms cools you off. No AC at home so I’m familiar with that.
I have two fans and two heaters - a floor model and a desk model and use them throughout the year. The worst is when I am clammy and cold. It is an old building with lots of labs, the HVAC system has to be manually tweaked and the thermostats are decorative, so it is anybody’s guess what the temp and humidity is. Anytime they tweak something, it takes a solid 24 hours before things stabilize.
A big fan of sleeveless. They can be layered easily when more warmth is needed. Nearly all my summer tops are sleeveless each with at least one topper.
I don’t have anything sleeveless anymore, since my office is very cold and I like to be covered in the sun, but there are days when I wish I have. I am now at home and wearing my pj tank top and pj shorts because it is so hot here and this is the barest thing I have.
I can related to needing sleeveless (I do carry various light jackets though for when I'm going in cold AC at a store or something - or for sun coverage). This one was a recent buy that I love. It's kind of cropped but that depends on your torso length I guess. I don't wear high rises and it's working with several of my pants/shorts. I don't feel overly self conscious if I raise my arms above my head and a small peek of my stomach shows for a moment. It has a little snap to keep the wrap closed properly and the armholes work for me. Seems true to size (M) for me, I usually wear 8-10 or M in tops.
We have AC at our house, but I hate to overcool - $$$$$. So I wear sleeveless tops all summer. And I like a high neck. Yesterday I wore a scoop neck top that I felt uncovered every time I leaned over.
No em, not even then! I know that type of heat well. Grew up in it for 32 years - Asia and Africa. Last year I was in VERY hot and humid Italy and no a/c - always sleeved. I am extremely good in heat.
Oh, I sweat in hot yoga class. DRIPPING - like every one else. But I don’t sweat a lot other than that. The flip side is that I’m wearing thermals when no one else is. I have zero resistance to the cold. It’s literally the reason we don’t live in Boston.
Oh how I wish I could wear more sleeveless tops and dresses - it is such a great look, but my upper arms have decided to become old lady arms, despite their underlying muscle tone (I hate to sound defensive, but I'm annoyed at my arms - lol) . I suppose it means I need to peel off a ton of fat to uncover the musculature, but oh my gosh it's such hard and work at this age - BAH.
We had a bit of a trend where ladies were wearing sleeveless tops with turtleneck collars one summer about ten years ago. Not just mockneck or skivvy style turtlenecks, but WINTER style fold over collars !
I couldn't understand the logic, unless the wearer worked in a freezing cold office with killer A/C.
I can also relate this because my office also don't have AC. So, I love to wear sleeveless tops and dresses which make me feel comfortable in this hot weather. I can show you the tops which i purchased from the Darveys. They have great collection and they have branded products as well.

I got heat-addled in the Costco parking lot, and bought one while I was shopping. I hadn't worn one in years, but into the cart it went. Now it's hanging on my closet door, waiting to be worn, but I haven't worked up the fortitude as yet. Not confident in my arms at all, but the heat may win out eventually!
Every spring I tell myself I won't wear sleeveless tops and dresses this year, because my arms arm showing that middle age "loose skin" (although I also have muscles).
And then we have a few sweltering days and I think, "F-- it! I don't care about my arms!" and out come the sleeveless pieces!
