I've had extra time here the last couple of days because I'm sick. I caught my boys' cold. yuck.
Since I have extra typing time, I'll tell you all that my clothes have been in garage prison for the last 6 weeks! due to house renovations. We have done all sorts of work to our room and we're almost done. Carpet is gone, moldy dry wall removed, laminate flooring laid, repainted, ceiling fan hung.... now we're waiting on a new window and wall heater to be installed and the trim to be finished. I can hardly wait to get my clothes back!
Rather than feeling like I must be able to live with a much smaller closet since I've managed that for 6 weeks, I can hardly wait to get some variety back in my life. Whenever I have trouble sleeping, I lay in bed and imagine new outfit combos with what I own. It's been a fun exercise, though I don't be able to tell if my ideas work until I get to try things on.
What has happened over this time is I've had a chance to reevaluate in my head and see what things I really need to buy. Last year I was trying to replace my whole wardrobe at once. It's hard to pull yourself out of over buying after buying LOTS of things because you were starting with nothing. Now I'm trying to be more focused. I have particular things I'm working to add that will work with what I already have.
I feel like I have a decent grip on my style. I've been slowly adding fun artsy jewelry to my collection, while my clothes remain simple and classic.
Just an aside: I hope to find a black and white striped long sleeved tee that isn't a boat neck. Does such an animal exist?? All the ones I've found so far are navy and white.
We'll move back into our room some time in the next couple of weeks. Then I plan to wear the heck out of my clothes. And maybe get back to posting WIWs a bit more often.
