Thanks, all of you. Jonesy, you are a saviour; this is something I never knew and now have learned! And I SO appreciate it. I haven't had a chance to peruse the site properly but will begin that this evening!
Dianthus, it is only an hour's drive for me to the border so if I could have things sent it might make sense. If I know my size, or the fit of an item, it is certainly worth while. I hope it won't prove necessary given my current time constraints, but it's great to have this in the back of my mind.
