ISO: Your favorite comfort sandals?

Hi all! Planning a late September trip to Italy and am on the hunt for comfortable sandals that will keep my feet happy with lots and lots of walking... but that I could still dress up and wear to dinner.

My wide-ish feet are happiest in something with some support, but I'm on the hunt for something more polished than Birkenstocks. My white Ecco sneakers will join me in my suitcase, as well as a pair of dressier sandals for short jaunts to dinner.

I have just spent two weeks in very hot and humid Italy. My Naturalizer Hurraches were WINNERS! They come in widths. I bought the narrow. You can get wide.

I got these Naturalizers this summer. I don’t have wide feet, but these are not constricting at all, so maybe they would work. BTW, they do come in other colors.

old pair of united nude sandals. i tried the ef sport platform and the ecco lookalikes. i'd get the ecco damara sandal (without the cross strap) if i were still looking for sandals. more comfortable for my wider forefoot and narrower heel.

Naot Kaylas are very comfortable and very suited for long days of walking. I have had them for two summers now and they are fantastic. I have worn them walking for miles on cobblestone streets, on bike rides, and all over the place. They are a little more minimalistic, but for my style I feel them dressy enough for vacation dinners. They come in a wide version as well - separate item on Zappos.

I have the Merrell's in olive/white that AndiB links. They are ridiculously comfortable -- not sure if I'd consider them more polished than Birks, but they are much lighter weight and they do seem to go with everything!

I got these Rockport Abbott sandals earlier this year and can't stop wearing them. I've worn them all day, multiple days in a row, and they have never hurt my feet. They come in all three widths. There are quite a few other Rockport options in their Cobb Hill line, too, if these are too polished.

JG, I wore the Sofft sport sandal (in silver) last year on our trip to Italy and walked comfortably for miles and miles daily -- even hiking thru Cinque Terre. I purchased the blue pair last summer as a back-up. I wore my navy Ecco sneakers only for plane travel. This year, I'm LOVING my Bella Vita slides as well, which is very comfortable despite the flat sole. Have a wonderful trip! Italy is AMAZING!

I've had Sofft sandals in the past that I adored. Don't own the ones that Murph links to, but wish I did!!

This summer, my most comfortable sandals have been the EF sport and my Fitflops. Opposite to bj1111, I wasn't able to wear the Ecco Damara because it didn't offer enough arch support for me. I bought it for travel but was disappointed after putting it (literally) through its paces. (BTW, I have narrow heels, and a medium forefoot, medium volume foot overall, high arches/ instep but not fleshy). Normally, Eccos are great for me, and I have the same sneakers you link, but the Damara style was just a bit "off" for my foot, while the EF (though pricier, alas!) seems to work.

ETA, the only reason these Fitflops work for me is they are adjustable. I have to adjust the tops to make them snug enough. The ones that don't have buckles do not work for me.

@Suz is right. I have fleshy insteps and the ef rubs while the eccos accommodate. BUT i don't own either and can't speak to how they are to actually walk distances in.

I bought a pair of silver Ecco sandals at the Rack just before I went to Cuba. Tromped all over Havana, etc, no problems.

My lace-up Fly London’s are best because they offer a lot of support and are adjustable. I have them in silver, not green, and tie them so the laces aren’t so long. The Tevas aren’t too bad. The cognac Me Toos offer a lot of support and my $22 PVC Topshop sandals are among the most supportive and comfortable footwear I own.

No sandal advice except to get a brand that "gets" your feet. I would probably look for Merrells as they fit my feet well in the arches, etc.
Have a wonderful trip. Gelato every chance you get. If you see a "death by chocolate" flavor, have an extra for me.

We were in Italy last September and I walked for miles every day in Eccos. Btw, the weather was so perfect in September! It was in the 70’s every day and the evenings were lovely too. You will love it! Eat some gelato for me!

My all-time favorite walking sandal (which is also stylish enough for wearing to any number of occasions) is Taos Trophy (Find attached). I have it in a gold/nude color. With its little rhinestones, it's dressy enough. Two of the three straps are adjustable. And the footbed is cushioned against shocks from the ground, but not soft. I also appreciate that the sole isn't too thick (for aesthetic reasons). The arch support is medium to high firmness and doesn't get squashed when you walk on it, nor does it shrink over time. I have walked for miles in these shoes around the city and on little country hikes. For reference, I have a wide forefoot, have small bunions, and like shoes with arch support such as Birkenstock or Naot. I enjoy that these Taos sandals offer similar comfort, together with what I consider a superior aesthetic appearance.

These are Rialto, super comfy-though the gold is not the original color...i spray painted them! The copper ones (used to be lighter tan) are soft but the thong doesn't hit in the right spot so my feet are farther back. Still good for a lot of miles though!

Like Alix, I got the Taos Trophy's but in white and have worn them almost every day! The other pair I've been wearing are the Olakai Eheu in black. So comfortable but I probably wouldn't wear for an entire day of sightseeing. Wearing them out to dinner and strolling back to the hotel definitely! I do wear them all day IRL but I'm not walking nonstop all day long.

I have ordered Angie's huaraches and the Naots (in cognac) that saltsea suggested, fingers crossed they both work because paired with my ecco sneakers I'd be sorted for footwear. Will be hashing out the rest of my packing list in the next few weeks (spreadsheet already started... I love planning!).

BTW, I realized I will be overlapping with Milan Fashion Week - I am PSYCHED for some incredible people watching and can't wait to ogle some incredible fashion! (Not going to any events, but I heard I can expect to see some very glamorous people)
