ISO Old Gringo studded boots - YouLookFab Forum

When I was in Santa Fe, I tried on and fell in love with these studded cowboy boots. They are so me! I love how the stud detail is not so overtly "western" but a bit more rock'n'roll.

Sadly, the store only had them in a 7.5 and an 8.5, which were too small and too big, respectively. I even went back with thick hiking socks to see if I could make the 8.5's work, but no luck. They said they had no way to order an 8 for me.

Usually, that's the end of the story for me, and I get over it, but I keep coming back to these boots even since I've come home. (It helps that hubs is a big fan of them as well.) I have been looking online and can't find these babies ANYWHERE -- even the Old Gringo website. I have filled out their contact form on their site to see if they can help me locate these.

In the meantime, I thought I'd put it out there in case any YLFers are near a retailer that carries Old Gringo (they're few and far between out here on the east coast). If you see these anywhere in an 8, I would love to know!

I don't know it, unfortunately. I asked the SA and she didn't have it. I wondered if this was a special limited item or something -- it seems like so many of their models are available everywhere!

Oof, I'm good at searching things out but without that essential info, I wouldn't waste my time. (I'd call the SF boutique up and try to find out...I can't believe they don't have it in their system, and suspect the woman didn't want to deal with you?) I went on the OG site and there are a handful of boutiques in the area that carry this brand, so if you have a boot ID for me I could find out if they carry them.

The SA was quite chatty and pretty helpful otherwise, actually, so it's a bit of a mystery about the model name.

have you tried emailing old gringo directly? I looked at their site, and it looked like one of theses company's who would be glad to hear from you and would really do what they could to help.

I did fill out their online contact form, and I let them know I have pictures, even though no model name, so I'm hoping to hear back from them.

It figures I would fall in love with the most obscure item they produce.

Janet, contacting the company is a good start, but I would go onto their Facebook page STAT, provide pics and explain the situation. It is much more real-time and current, and if not OG themselves, then one of their fans may be able to help you.

I contacted Nordstrom about an unnamed pair of boots a model was wearing in their catalogue. They never got back to me...but Zap actually ID'd them for me as Miz Mooz. Never underestimate the hive mind!

Oh, the OG Facebook page is a great idea. I'm off to find it!

Hm, I wasn't able to find anything using my usual ways... if you aren't able to locate them, would it be out of the question to have the toes of the 7.5 stretched out?

Rae, I think it would be tough to stretch the 7.5s enough to make them work. They are so expensive I can't see risking the purchase and ending up with painful boots. I think the 8.5s would have been more likely.

I wonder if you could find plain boots...or even ones with partial studding like this. I've seen lots of DIYs studding combat boots. Anyway, not saying you should give up, thinking outside the box just in case. Sending good thoughts!

Janet, I have no help to offer but all I can say is no wonder you are in love. Those are gorgeous!!

Bummer, was just at the FB page and saw their response. But at least you HAVE a response now. So...reconsider the 8.5's with some inserts? Move on?

I have to say that this company makes boots that are over- the-top gorgeous!

Ah, it makes sense that they're a "vintage" item since they're so hard to find. Sigh. And since I'm back home now, it's a bit hard to try them out with some extra thick insoles. Maybe they were just not meant to be.
