fabbers...anyone come across dressy flat / low heeled black knee boots like the find without the heel and platform sole optional? no fancy leather or pattern or quilting. minimal hardware acceptable

I have these Frye boots. They might be too western for you, but they are very simple and low heeled. I wore them to my husband's dressy office Christmas party one year with a black dress and silver jacket. I loved it because I wasn't cold for once.

You and me both, bj1111. These Aquatalia's caught my eye. The higher shaft and buckle make them dressy to me. Though the heel isn't as flat as I like.

@traci, the robert clergerie would be perfect if not suede. if i lived in less snow, i would be all over this. the la canadienne passion is in my cart to mull over.

@annagybe--strongly considering:
ted and muffy blaze, la canadienne serafina, also in my cart for mulling

@greenjeans, the jack rogers have that stripped down feel i'm going for, trying to decide if too stripped down, also in my cart.

@kkards, those boots would be contenders if i could remove the tassel. a bit horsey for me.

Hmm, I'm not sure whether they might be too tall for you. I haven't had them on since early last spring, so I'd have to try them on to see where they hit me. My calves are pretty long.

Strongly recommend you check out La Canadienne. There will be a few different options https://www.lacanadienneshoes.com/ and it is (alas) possibly going to be necessary to try or call for measurements on shaft height. La Canadiennes are one of the few brands that makes a shaft height that works for 5'4" (but proportionately short calf) me. (As a result, I have two expensive pairs of boots from them.)

Some of the styles will have 17 inch shafts, some 15, some 14, and some 13. I can't really go higher than 14 myself (occasionally a 15 will do but it's less likely.)
