ISO: Cute summer tops to wear with denim skirt

Okay...maybe it's me, but I can't seem to find tops to wear with my skirt. Everything that I am seeing is too long (I don't tuck-in), puffy or flutter-sleeved (I'm an inverted triangle), or just plain ugly (I won't even go there).

I hope you can find something to wear with it! I have that very same skirt and love it. I've already worn it twice this week so far. I like wearing it with cute knit tops tucked in with sandals or flats in the summer, and then boots, silk tops and cardis in the winter. Good luck!

Oh, Lesley, is that how your name is spelled? Well, I am an inverted triangle too - but a much shorter & fatter version with MUCH more pronounced shoulders & arms than you! I definitely do not tuck & I hate all the puffy & flutter sleeved tops out there. But you have such awesome arms - I would think you could work some of those cap sleeve tops that are so challenging to most women. I love my denim skirts - I have three and find them as versatile as jeans and much easier to wear in the heat. I tend to do alot of tanks with cardigans (long & short sleeve) with my denim skirt. I have a few scoop neck, elbow length tee shirts (yes, tee shirts) too that I sometimes wear - from AT & J Crew. Also, though you are very tall from what I see, maybe you can checkout the petite tops (since you are short-waisted). That might help with the length issue...

My denim skirt is straight.

I keep looking, but it seems that there is always something wrong (for me) with what I'm seeing out there in retail land.

I know that a lot of tops are being shown tucked in, but I don't tuck in. I feel limited in many ways.

Also, if I find a top that I remotely like, the colors that it comes in aren't my colors.

What to do?!? What to do?!?!?

Do not despair! There is a top for you and your darling skirt. I like a cardigan layered over a cami as Shana suggests? Ann Taylor and the Loft, have camis that are shorter. Or a vest over a graphic T?

Did you manage to look at the tops that I posted on the other thread? Can you post a picture of one of your own tops worn OVER this skirt so that I can get a sense of what’s going on?
