ISO awesome black shoes

I am looking to add a pair of black shoes to my wardrobe. Heel needs to be low, and the shoes comfy for fussy feet. But I am looking for a certain cool factor.

I have thought about some loafers, but I am not sure those have the cool factor with socks. And as it will be below freezing for some time, socks are required.

Anyone have any leads?

I am happy to hunt for these, but a little more detail would be good - are these for pants or skirts? And how feminine do you want to go? I found cool patent oxfords, and some loafers (Anyi Lu) and AGL pumps. What's in your closet already? Sorry i can't remember offhand!

I, err, just "let go" of some Wolkies and Clark's that were . . . .errr . . Very VERY frumpy.

At this point, I have 3 pairs of black booties, and a single pair of black shoes. They are suede and look pretty rough, even after the babying they have been given.

They would be primarily for trousers, and they have to be okay to have socks with them as it's cold. I do carry my shoes into work, but I have learned suede is just too delicate with the salt that seems to have permeated every surface.

Budget would be up to $300. There are thes miu mius . . . but I couldn't look DH in the eye dropping $700 on shoes.

For what it's worth, I might look at Footwear Etc & The Walking Company.
They specialize in comfortable shoes, meaning you have to get past a fair bit of frump but there's some good things in there.
