ISO a small crossbody bag with multiple pockets

I thought April had a post on this several months ago but I can't find it and a general search didn't turn anything up. I probably didn't use the right search term.

I had a small crossbody that I would take on trips to switch out from my main purse when I only needed essentials. It had a central pocket that would just hold my phone, a tissue pack and a lipstick. Each side had two zippered pockets that could hold things like cash, cc, hotel key card, etc. It kept things light for when I needed that. It was faux leather and the last time I used it I noticed it was completely disintegrated, bits flaking off everywhere.

I'm searching for a replacement. Priority is the pockets and being very lightweight. Any suggestions?

I adore Tumi crossbody bags which are very lightweight and travel well, and I own a few of them. I also use them for my summer bags, because I like a lighter weight material when it's hot outside.

The Tumi bags have a zipper pocket on the front, and a slip pocket in the back (I usually put my phone in the front zipper pocket and airplane tickets or travel brochures in the slip pocket in the back). Inside the bag are a few card slots if you don't want to carry a wallet. I usually carry a wallet anyway, but I use the card slot for hotel room keys.

My Tumi bags are various shades of blue and black (see finds), but they come in a bunch of colors. I prefer the smaller size of the Ruma/Rama and Voyager crossbody bags, but I've seen larger options too.

Thanks Lisa. I'm liking the look of the Tyler Crossbody under the Voyageur line. Might be just what I'm hoping for. I didn't find any called Ruma or Rama though...when I searched that term the line that came up was called Persia.

Best though...there is a store near me so I don't need to guess. In person shopping, what a concept!

I've seen the Tyler bag in person, it's a lovely bag, and like all Tumi bags it's lightweight. That bag will be great for travel.

I did a quick search and it indeed does look like the Persia bag is the "newer" version of my Ruma/Rama Tumi bags. My bags are 2-6 years old, so that's probably why those names aren't on the Tumi website anymore.

I also peeked at Ebay and can still find Ruma/Rama bags there. However, the Ruma/Rama bags are definitely smaller than the Tyler.

No matter which bag you choose, Tumi is a great choice especially for travel. IMO anyway.

These ones probably aren't an option as they are a NZ brand but there may be similar styles available so wanted to share how I use them.

I've got both Navy and Black of the Saben Tilly and they are the perfect small size for putting in a larger bag to pull out when you want to leave the other bag behind. I do this for work, putting them in my laptop bag and then just taking them if I go for a coffee etc. They have card slots and are not big enough to hold a wallet. I put my phone on one side and then can fit keys, airpods, swipecard, lipbalm and can just squeeze sunglasses in on the other side. There is also a small zippered part in the middle.

I've recently added the Big Sis version in navy which has a bit more room so can fit a few extras (tissues, a reusable bag) and don't have to squeeze my sunglasses in. I intend to take it when we travel through Canada/US later this year (plus a larger crossbody tote bag).

Take a look at MZWallace. Their bags are super lightweight and they have their pocket game down. Both my sisters, my mom and myself all have multiple bags from this brand

They are usually sold in both Bloomingdale’s and Nordies but have a better color selection if you buy direct.

There are more, and like I said on their website they have a lot of colors.

Sherpani is my go to for lightweight and well-organized bags. My smallest has an outer zip pocket and an interior zip pocket. Both have detachable straps so you can swap in something you might like better. Lots of sizes and colors to choose from. Some have RFID protection as well.

If you were in Seattle, I know where I'd take you to look. There's a local gift shop called Fireworks that always has a great selection of bags, especially faux leather and compact cross-bodies. I would look in stores specializing in travel things, too, if you want to shop in person and see more than one brand at a time.

I was also going to suggest Tumi!

My everyday bag is a Tumi Voyageur. You can see it in a bunch of my recent posts. (And, even though I have been complaining about it, because it's been basically my only bag for some years now and I'm sick of it, it really is a great bag.)

Also good to know that Fireworks is a good store for bags! I would not have thought of that!

Thanks everyone! Such good suggestions. I've looked at the brands recommended here and I'm most drawn to Tumi and MZ Wallace. Tumi has the benefit of having an actual store locally and I think that for this I really do need to see and hold it. I'm feeling an actual shopping trip coming on, how odd!
