Horrors!!

The GAP seems to have changed the cut of the "Sexy Boyfriend." What now?

My DD is an avowed tomboy. NO girly-girl stuff allowed.

Also, she has all kinds of sensory stuff going on. She can't bear the feeling fo fabric tight on her skin. Or stretchy stuff that is not loose.

For the last 3 years I've kept her covered with an ever-rotating pile of GAP sexy boyfriend jeans. But she recently wore through all but one pair -- just on the eve of a family trip over the March break.

She literally has one pair of pants to her name.

I duly ordered some replacement jeans.

What came is totally different from her earlier jeans. These ones have a really high rise (like Mom jeans) -- plus, they are really large on the waist. (She's got a fairly straight figure, too, so I can only imagine how they would be on a pretty pear. Yikes!!)

I need to find her some BF jeans fast. Available in my small city in Canada. We have a Gap (without a lot of stock), and an Old Navy. If I ordered from those I could get it online in time.

Other B&M options: the Bay (very low stock and selection), Urban Outfitters, H&M, Aeropostale, American Eagle.

Suggestions gladly taken!

It sounds like she got the new authentic boyfriend. Do they still list the sexy boyfriend? I have seen the girlfriend jean at Gaps here but they might be too fitted for her.

Hmm, what about actual men's jeans? Like 501s or the like.

Otherwise, I would prob look for the old sbf jeans on eBay.

Oh! ON Boyfriend straights. Just bought these and totally love them. Wish they had another inch in length for me, but unless your daughter is really tall, they should work for her either rolled or full length. You might size down if she wants a slim boyfriend look. (I did)

Sarah, she is currently in a size 6. She is 5'4".

Carter, thank you! I will give those a try. I think in her case will will size up for extra looseness.

Diana, great idea -- if I can find some 501s they might work for her.

Shevia, they list both on the Canadian site. Actually, they list 3: Authentic, Girlfriend, and Sexy. I ordered Sexy. But maybe we received Authentic. I will have to check that tag. Good thinking!

Well, I sized up, so they are 28/6, but they are petite. Hmmm...any interest?

My DD with Cerebral Palsy who has similar sensory issues loves the American Eagle jeans. I don't know the name of them but they fit loose. I will try to remember to ask her about them when she gets home later.

Checked the tag...they sent Authentic rather than Sexy. And no sexy in her size on sale right now, alas...

Suz - it's probably not very helpful, but I tried sexy boyfriends recently (even posted a photo here), and I drowned in what is supposed to be my regular size. Now - I never owned this particular model before so cannot say whether it's a recent issue or they always ran very large, but maybe it's worth trying one size smaller (if it's available)?
Another suggestion - are Kuts available in Canada? Or is there any retailer that would ship to Canada? Their boyfriend and straight jeans come highly recommended and are priced similarly to Gap.
Also Uniqlo might be worth trying, although not sure they ship to Canada.
(As an off-topic, my two little girls absolutely refuse to wear jeans or any kind of pants besides leggings.. I anticipate similar issues when they are teenagers).

Daria, thank you! The sexy BF do fit large (ish) depending on how one is used to wearing jeans, that is...for her, though I already know the size in that style -- sizing down won't work as she can't get them up over her thighs.

Kuts not available up here to my knowledge and prices much higher for us than GAP sale prices. (I love Kuts so I am sad about that. I own a few pair myself! Good quality.)

No Uniglo shipping here yet....alas. I think we are getting our first Uniglo store in Toronto soon, but that is a schlep for us of 3 hours.

Off to do some wizardry. If I can find some second hand 501s or if the ON Straight BFs work, she might be in luck.

Ok - i actually have a small pile of Gap sexy BF's sitting here cowering under my threat to give them away. They are all 27's. Some are more distressed than others - all are the darker wash. Is this her size? I can pop them in the mail to you today if you want them.

Suz I checked with my daughter she says she buys them in the store and she gets the boot cuts or they occasionally have boyfriends. So no help here.

I was going to suggest the new 501 CT too. Size up a few sizes.

FWIW, Sears carries Levi's (501's and 505's) in store, though sometimes stock availability varries. Marks Work Warehouse carries Levi's too, and sometimes their house brand (Denver Hayes) makes a nice pant (they have 4 fits). My white jeans are Denver Hayes Hanna fit and 100% cotton.

Lisa, that is so sweet of you to offer, but I think those would be too small for her. She is wearing a 28 (6) now. UGH. (Not grumbling that she is wearing that size, only grumbling that yours will not fit her!)

Also try the Gap Real Straight sized up a size or two if they have any in your B&M store. I use those as boyfriends - they fit my hips better (narrower).

Like Greyscale, my boyfriends are sized up Gap Real Straights. They fit a narrow hip and have a lower rise so they hang on my hips instead of going up to my waist. I detest tight stretchy jeans so I was happy to see a pair of jeans that resembled what I think of as "real" jeans. I recently tried on those Authentic Boyfriends and was scratching my head trying to figure whose shape they would fit.

Gaylene, I know!! Those "authentic" jeans are just plain weird. I am curious to see if they will work for any of our Fabbers. They really looked ridiculous on DD and felt awful to her, too.

I will investigate sized up Real Straights for her. I am wondering about the thighs. She has relatively narrow hips but substantial thigh real estate. I have some real straights (worn as crops in summer). I sized up one size and they are plenty roomy on the hip but still quite snug on my thighs -- and mine are not as large has hers. She would probably have to go up two to three sizes, and that might throw the rest off. But still, worth checking. Thanks Greyscale and Gaylene.

Another option would be sized up Levis 524 (too low superpower - that's the name). The rise is low (8 or 8.5 inches) but they fit the thighs well and are very non-clingy. Sizing and softness is very wash dependent.

Jean shopping with DD? Oh, I know that story!
I have a pair of ON BF's that I wore a lot last summer. I need a generous thigh, too, so I bet they would work! They are always changing their washes, however, which I find intensely annoying.

Lucky Brand has a lot of good Jean options, (though more expensive than Gap) and American Eagle also has a lot of options. Good luck! I'd like to get my dd into more jeans, she lives in Roots sweats.
