ISO - Reasonably-priced lash serum

Hi everyone, just a quick question - has anyone had any luck with reasonably-priced lash growth serums?

I used to use the Rodan + Fields one; it worked but it's just too pricey for me to bother with. I'm loving my minimal makeup routine lately, and slightly thicker and longer lashes would perk it up! (and be great when pool season arrives and mascara's not as good an option).

I'm interested too - but also a bit scared of them because of the other side effects. A few years ago I tried a high-end one (can't remember the name) and it did nothing . I was curious about the R&F one but couldn't pull the trigger - so pricey. I did a lash lift and dye in the winter and loved the results, but it didn't last terribly long . Was also $$.

Castor oil! It's natural, chip and very effective, it strenghten the eyelashes and makes them thicker.

GrandeLash MD worked for me. I applied every single day and saw results in 6-8 weeks. Sephora has a 6 week supply for $34.

I've had some luck in the past with Rimmel's Lash Accelerator Serum. You can't beat the price at $8.

Nemos, it might have to be - I hate trying to remove it though - it pulls what little eyelashes I have out lol!

Minaminu, I had that on my grocery list - I'll try it! I heard that can help with eyebrows too. Can't hurt to try.

Lisa, it definitely works but it's soooo expensive! I only bought it because my friend's friend started selling it; I texted her to say I was interested and then next thing I got the invoice and I felt bad to say I didn't want it. I almost had a heart attack when I saw the price!

I got a great deal several years ago on the latisse, from my dermatologist... must have been doing a lot of other procedures like BBL... the latisse worked great! No other side effects. I loved it so much! But after the deal was just too spendy for me. I haven’t put mascara on for two months and I don’t miss it. I do my brows, some lippy, touch of blush. Have so reduced my makeup and honestly love it! Longer lashes would be the piece de resistance for my new minimal make up. I do use eyelash curler some now too which really helps too! Following for less expensive version..

I had excellent results from Revitalash - someone on YLF recommended and I bought some at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale 2 for 1 deal almost two years ago. It definitely took me a while to see results - nothing for 4 weeks then, then boom - longer lashes. Then I just used it every other day. But I did notice my eye lids sometimes looked a bit pink - not sure whether it was the serum, allergies or some other reaction. I stopped last fall when I was traveling and never started up again. Lazy, and I started wondering about long term risks, spending, etc. My lashes are back to short and sparse again.

I think (the other) Angie of Hot & Flashy recommends this one. I would be sure to buy anything from a reputable source, like Nordies as I saw a lot of Amazon reviews complaining of empty bottles or counterfeit concerns. Plus if you had a reaction or didn't see results you could return to a reputable retailer.

Revitalash definitely works, but I don’t see it on the Nordies website any more. I am in a bit of a panic because I seem to have misplaced what I bought at NAS. I have small eyes so it lasts a long time. Revitabrow works as well, so I have contemplated using the lash brush with it instead of the brow applicator.

It's one of those things that once you start - you have to keep it up . And then it's just another thing to add to the increasingly spendy self-care list . Oh boy . But i wonder if I should try Revitabrow? I have almost NO eyebrow hair under here !

Yes, I read as well that castor oil can help the growth of eyebrows but have never used it for that purpose. I have been using on and off on my eyelashes and it does work, my eyelashes got thicker and slightly longer within few months. . I also used Latisse but stopped when I read the ingredients as eyelashes are in very delicate part of the body and prefer a natural alternative that is kinder to the skin.

I recently started using Revitabrow. I have thin, sparse, almost invisible brow hair and I think it looks funny when I try to fill with powder or pencil. I think there is some improvement. I’m not bothering with my lashes, mine are thin, and fine, but long. A thin coat of mascara plus eyeliner does the trick. I also have Rosacea of my eyes and am afraid to use anything that might have a negative impact/cause more inflammation.

I've been using Latisse for 2,5 months now. Great results! I bought it mostly for my disappearing eyebrows but started to use on eyelashes, too. My eyebrows are thicker and darker now. But it works even better on eyelashes! I'm hooked, want to buy more when it will be possible. I trimmed the application brush (I use only one) and put the smallest amount possible to stretch it.

I have been thinking about trying something for my lashes. My brother has glaucoma and the drops he uses are the same as latisse. His lashes are amazing. He has different colouring than me. His hair was very dark and curly and his skin is olive but his eye colour is the same as mine. So far his iris has not changed. That was my big worry.

I'm now obsessed with this, apparently. A local salon just posted a sell-out (and pictures of all of the bags ready for curbside pick-up ) of their fav which is called Eyenvy. It's $135 Cdn though ! Apparently everyone in Wpg uses lash enhancement stuff.

Stylefan, I never knew these things could change your iris colour? Is that because it's drops, or have you heard that lash serums can do this?

You're right; my Dad started with glaucoma drops and his lashes got SO dark and long; they were gorgeous! Although I don't think he agreed lol!

Yikes, thanks for the warning Lisa - I never knew that! Maybe I'll start with the castor oil then. I like my iris colour!

I've been using my mascara primer lately too, and that actually goes a long way to making my lashes look longer and fuller ...

Something different for brow and hair strengthening - Keratin ( hair, skin and nails support - 50mg from Swanson vitamins ). After taking it for a month and half I noticed some improvements in my brows - extra hair on the end and stronger look overall.
Initially I started taking that supplement for my thinning hair and so far I'm happy with results ( not a miracle but definitely an improvement ).
Other things I tried: Hair/high potency vitamin and mineral supplement by Calif/Natural and Biotin-Keratin complex by Nature Reward.

Latisse (or the equivalent for glaucoma) can change the colour of the iris. It is a very rare side effect and is not reversible. It is more likely to happen when someone is using the drops for glaucoma because they are putting the drops right into their eyes. The dermatologist I go to said she has never seen it happen and it is most likely to happen to light coloured eyes.
I don't think the other lash-enhancing serums have that kind of side effect.
Thanks for the recommendation, Slimcat. My hair thinned out 2 years ago when my dog was injured. My hair is still looking thinner than ever.

I use latisse, though I often forget, so a bottle lasts me a really long time. I put it on the eyelash line and the tail of my eyebrows. The results are good, and I don't see any color change at all in my eyes.

With the Revitalash, I have developed fine hair below the outer corners of my eyes probably due to eye watering and the subsequent dripping I sometimes get. I lose lashes if I skip a night so it’s every night for me if I want to keep my lashes as thick and long as they were when I was a teenager. (Castor oil did not work for me; it just clogged my pores.)

Revitabrow brought back hair lost from years of over plucking; not sure if it will result in hair that was never there.
