Hmm. I have never considered camo print as such - and now I'm reconsidering. I mean... there have been Army surplus stores in existence for decades. Hunters wear camouflage, and I don't believe they are stealing valour. They're simply blending in to hunt fresh food. If we're going to start down this path, then following this logic, stompy/combat boots might be considered the same.
I feel like there will always be opinions about textiles and pattern. As an example... I wear clothing with Asian and India embroideries, and I have textiles and furniture in my house from Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam. I don't consider it 'stealing' or appropriation. It's simply things I find beautiful and peaceful and enjoy.
But. This (camoflauge) is different, in that it's the uniform print of military and hunters, which makes it representative of war, strife, hunting, stalking, killing, guns. But what is fashion, if not a commentary on the times we're living in? You could style this as a form of peaceful civil protest, or support for military personnel, with something beautifully whimsical, such as a flower necklace, or floofy skirt a la Vivienne Westwood, and I can't imagine anyone would call that "Stolen Valour".
I second BlueJay's comment about "wear it with joy". If you aren't feeling the joy, you should send it back. If you really love it, find a way to work with it, that fits your value system and your personal style. There's nothing wrong with changing your mind or altering your original plan, after something has opened your eyes to expand your worldview. That's what makes us better people.
