How tall are you? To toughen this dress up with black tights, boots and moto jacket, I'd say it would have to hit you significantly above the knee length. Otherwise, it may look frumpy and I don't think there is much room for hemming. Maybe your seamstress can take out one or two tiers of ruffles?
Hey, look at the link Bella just posted under "pretty blouses" - the Gap site comes up with grey leans, a gold ruffled top and a black jacket with black shoes!
May I suggest that you try to repeat the black somewhere else in the outfit since you do not have black hair. I think that the outfit you're describing *might* need to be book-ended. Does that make sense?
There is a lot going on with this dress! Somehow the cream color is what's throwing me off a bit--I could totally see this in charcoal, or deep blue, or olive. But you are the one to give it a shot and toughen it up a bit (then post pics, of course :)!
Yowsa, thinking about outerwear, I'll be this would be adorable with your shearling jacket (should the fashion gods smile on you and they both work out perfectly :).
I LOVE the dress and love the color! With this cream colored dress your options are endless. You already have some great suggestions. It is cashmere, yum, great texture.
You are 5'8" and this 34" dress should hit you well above the knee. I'm also 5'8' and I look for dresses that are 40" to hit me at the knee.
I love the idea of this sweet dress with everything else being tuff looking.
Go for it.
