is this too dressy for a beach wedding?

Hi ladies, I'm wondering if you'd think this dress is too dressy or too white for a beach wedding (and another wedding in ID). I'd wear the other dress I just bought, but it needs tailoring. I've already bought this one but got some negative comments on it.

Angie would probably give better advice regarding what's acceptable to wear to a wedding, but a full white lace overlay gives me pause. I don't think the style is too dressy for a beach wedding, and the underlayer is not white, but it makes me hesitate enough that I probably wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn't wear a white lace dress to a wedding, I'm afraid, even with the pretty turquoise under-layer.

I third MaryK. White at a wedding should be reserved for the bride, even with the turquoise under layer.

Agreed - the turquoise adds the "something blue" so I'd avoid that colour combination. If the same dress came in a different colour, I'd jump at it!!

I actually think it's fine but apparently it seems like most others do not, so I think I'd err on the side of caution and not wear it.

It's funny because it isn't truly a white dress but the white lace just does something to it that makes it more bride-y.

Having recently been thinking a LOT about wedding guest wear, there are a lot of lace dresses out there in which the lace is colored and does not give this vibe. The underlayer can even be cream --though the majority are "nude" or even a color. You might find something like that that appeals to you. Otherwise the blue is a fab color for beach wedding, of course.

I don't find it bridal so I wouldn't have a problem with it (as the bride), but there are enough nays that it might not be the best idea.

Having been a guest at a beach wedding last summer, remember that it will probably be windy. You want a dress that won't need to be held down. Just a thought. It may also be very sunny and a brimmed hat may be a welcome accessory.
