Renee - I think it's a very personal call. I agree that it's not trendy in a bad way at all, but to me, as a "mature" woman (ha!), I know I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable wearing it. For me, the styling does read a little young - and I can't really explain why. It has something to do with structure I think, and maybe as someone else pointed out, the frayed edges? Not that those are bad things - not at all, but I know that lately, when I wear certain styles, they just feel too young. But that's only ME.
I would probably prefer the second jacket for myself, but if you're drawn to the first one, and have had your eye on it, you should give it a go. Maybe take a picture? You can always return it if you decide it's not right.
I adored your outfit with the tunic and short boots. You looked very chic and extremely current - trendy in a really good way - so it's not that I think you can't be trendy! Sorry if that's confusing - just my own personal feelings!
