I love the olive tweed blazer too, but it is a very different blazer to the first one which is just oh-so-hot. British/wool/traditional styling vs tailored/polyester-viscose/shrunken style. I guess the question is how, when and where are you going to wear it. Much as I love the first one I would get more wear out of the second one but I don't think that is always the most important criteria

Anna, i'm not sure they are similar enough for you!

I would consider the boden jacket indendently, not as a less expensive replacement for your object of lust.

Yeah, I'm not seeing similarity here either, however the Band of O jacket picture is a little dark on my screen. The BOO looks traditional and gorgeous - how can it not be? The Boden one looks a little trendier. But it's kind of an unfair comparison - not much is going to look good up against a $1200 jacket

To me the BOO jacket reads preppy wheras the Boden blazer is more hunt club (which I suppose is also preppy). So if you're going for preppy the Boden blazer might be an ok substitute. But if its the fabrication and style of the BOO jacket the other won't hold up. If you're wait listed for the first it wouldn't hurt to order the Boden and see if you love it. I kind of want it myself.

So, I am not sure these are truly substitutes for each other. But perhaps the hole they will fill is the same?

Either way, I am not sure you would be happy with the Boden when your object of lust is the BOO. Would your heart still yearn for the BOO if you ready had the Boden?

The Brooks brothers is a much closer substitute in my opinion. Still, might want to hold out for the BOO. What does your heart say?

The Brooks Brothers is a closer match IMO. I think last year J Crew made their schoolboy blazer in plaid, but I don't see it available right now.

Bb closer. I think parsing the elements of the boo would be helpful...plaid, size of plaid, color, shrunken? But then, you're an emotional visceral shopper, so this exercise might not be useful!

I agree BB is much closer. I also think it has more staying power than BOO, even if it has less statement power. And Boden has the least statement power, but would probably last you forever as a basic blazer. However, I just can't imagine that you'd ever really love the Boden blazer in the same way.

Hmm. The Boden is very different, but I think you'd look really good in it.

re. the Brooks, it's closer but it's also still louder. That close, I think you want all the way quiet like the Grail.

I'm the outlier here. I don't see a huge difference. If you have the sleeves of the Boden (which, I confess, I like the subtleties of the fabric better) shortened, you can possibly use that fabric to make outside patch pockets?

I love the BB but it is a more femme plaid than the BOO. I guess it all depends on the looks you want to create.
