I have a silk bag too but it's small enough to put it on my lap when we're out and about. If it were me, I'd skip this bag, because no matter how ultra-careful I am, my bigger bags inevitably wind up on the floor sometimes. It seems it just can't be helped. When I first bought my cream bag, I was sooo careful for months, but yes, even that bag has been on the floor a few times! But it is leather, so it cleans up beautifully.
That's the other thing about bags. They've done tests to show that the bottom of your bag is covered in bacteria and germs and such. They recommend never, EVER leave your bag on the kitchen counter, and also not on a table at the restaurant either. Since learning this, I can't help but be grossed out when women leave their bags on the table or bar top, or come into my house and plop their bags on my kitchen counter or dining room table. Yuck!
Please hold your purse in your lap, or yes, put it on the floor, or the back of the chair (but don't leave it on the back of a chair if you are dining outside - we've had numerous thefts on newbury street where theives have simply grabbed the bags and ran).
I like bags that have tiny little feet for this reason, and also bags that can be wiped down with soap and water or sanitizer. You are supposed to wipe down your bag once a week.
Sorry to rain on your silk purse parade!
