Is this oversized blazer too oversized? ETA yes it is

I kinda think this Madewell blazer is too long on me. But I am not sure if it’s just that my eye really needs to adjust to the long blazer look? There isn’t a petite size for me to try.

I would not stylet usually with the short sweat pants - maybe that doesn’t help? :p

ETA - yeah I’m convinced for sure that I should return it. Sizing down won’t work. Thanks all!

The sleeves seem a bit too long to me, and they are very important with a blazer. Maybe try to style it different?

The blazer appears to be too large and long for you, Christina F, especially the sleeves. What a shame it isn't available in a petite size, which is really what you need.

Kkkards, sizing down will almost certainly be an issue with my hips. So I won’t bother and it may not be available anymore anyway. This is why jackets can be very hard to fit on me.

I can commiserate; I have tried a bunch of different Madewell blazers and none of them fit my shortish self quite right. Shoulders too narrow, stance too low... I agree with Janet that oversized blazers are one of the hardest things to get right.

La Ped - very tricky, I agree! Especially with Madewell. I just wanted to try it out, but if I never get it to work, I won’t be too sorry. I’ve learned not to rule too many things out, is all!

I also have trouble with oversized blazers. But have kind of used a coatigan to get a similar vibe, though didn’t capture the menswear vibe. I’m not petite per se but can’t do much oversized.
As you see things here and there ( easier when used to have access to try on blazers IRL), you might come across a blazer that maybe isn’t called “ oversized, “ but fits you just a touch that way- maybe it has good- fitting shoulders but is a tad longer in the body, straighter, and some kind of plaid or check— so it is BF/ oversized- evoking but interpreted for you.

Christina, I like the vibe, but the fit is not quite right. The body has that fab '80s fashion forward look, but the sleeves aren't sufficiently tailored. Scrunched, the silhouette would already look better because you added structure.

Soooooo, the runways are full of this silhouette and the fit is just like this - or bigger. We had no problem wearing it in the '80s......but I guess today, we are not in the same head space....yet!

Angie, there is definitely an element of not being used to this look. I could deal with that if I found the right item, as I find that my eye adjusts. But I won’t commit to wearing this with sleeves scrunched all the time, so back it goes. I can keep an eye out for another jacket with this vibe.

I love this looser cut, scrunching sleeves will help a lot!!! I wear ALL my blazer scrunched for visual interest (which I LOVE) no mater tailored, dressy or casual...hope it is NOT a faux pas-it's just so easy for me-guess is a strong personal prefference...:-)

I understand, Lyn, but I prefer something I could wear un-scrunched if I’m cold. It’s certainly not a faux pas to scrunch at all! But I need a wool blend blazer like this one to look good both ways.
